What would happen if we all learnt to drive without braking so much

the point being that it should always work like that which would reduce congestion on all motorways if people used a bit of senisble lane disclpine...

this includes not staying in the middle lane unless overtaking to...
So how do you approach a motorway with tail to tail caravans for miles ?
(sometimes 50 miles on the M5)

It's a road not a race track i merely take my time and get on with it.

to be fair though the law also states that caravans and all trailers shouldn't ever be in the overtaking (3rd lane) nor should the be travelling at more than 60 mph. personally, i'd report them. get them out of everyones way. or fit a sidewinder to the car and fire it into them i bloody hate caravans.... shakes fist...

but seriously, i'm not suggesting what your doing is wrong but if everyone on the motorway you the caravans the lorries etc etc had better lane discapline then there'd be no need for you to be in the middle lane except for over taking. and the overtaking lane would be realitively car free...

So when there are caravans doing 60 in the inside lane at a decent stopping distance (as if) but not miles apart , we should all be doing 60 and using the one lane ?

Cruise control - what a wonderful invention.

Pick a nice safe ECONOMICAL speed and stay. No point in choosing one that's too fast cause you end up braking.

Result: excellent fuel economy and a stress free drive, no longer worrying about blue lights in the rear view mirror any more - hello Mr 70-75mph hassle free driving.

Totally agree with cruise control. I'm sure it's saved my licence. Before I had cruise control my speed would gradually creep up and I got far too many points. 3 years of cruise control and my licence is nice and clean again.

I went from Bristol to Cardiff last week and only had to brake once - for the toll bridge. Even if traffic is heavy I tend to use the control rather than the brakes/ accelerator to regulate speed. My legs may well atrophy if I keep the same car for much longer.

I would bring in a law banning caravans between 7am and 7pm. I'd also make owners pay double vehicle duty.

It is long overdue that a driving test be introduced before people are allowed to tow a caravan.

So does anyone on this thread actually 'break' when they need to slow their car down, or is the word 'brake' just being mis-spelt? If the former, they must spend a lot of time in A&E.

:p

I always seems to spell it the wrong way :D
