What would be your ideal job?

I would blatantly turn into Comic Store Guy from the Simpsons:cool:

Primary school teacher. I've trained, and i'm qualified and I can't get a job to save my fucking soul. So instead i'm going down to the advertising agency in town and submitting my soul to them for a steady paycheck.

How's it going NVP? :)

Good, thanks. Works interesting enough, the people are sound and it pays alright so I think I've fallen on my feet really. Considering I've not worked for the last 4 years and the recession and what have you, I'm pleasantly surprised. :)

Librarian at The British Library.
When I was a child, I used to spend hours and hours in the local library, and as I was growing up I fancied being either a librarian (because you'd get to read books all day, and the teachers wouldn't tell you to stop reading and do some sums instead), and I also wanted to be a trapeze artist and a pilot at various points too.

I've no idea why I wanted to be a trapeze artist.

To be a free-range journalist, the ethical kind, the investigative kind, the campaigning kind. I could just research and report on anything I wanted, expose injustice, report on humanitarian initiatives, and I would have the resources to be able to do that.

I also enjoy cooking, and I like cooking for a load of people. Not in the hiding out in the kitchen in a professional restaurant kitchen sense, but more in a sociable sense. So it would be quite nice to have a little cafe bar/bistro type of place. I'm not a morning person, I'm more of a night owl, but I think that even so, I'd fnd the hours too much of a grind doing something like that. It's one thing to enjoy doing something in your leisure time, and it's another to have to do it for work.

For me - getting enough people to read and appreciate my books that I sold enough to make a steady income of about 30k, and with that I would also go and set up permanently somewhere nice and chilled and tropical, possibly running a bar (although I realise that the reality of running a bar, anywhere, would probably preclude having time to write, but it's a nice fantasy)

I had a meeting in the week with a bloke who's job title was Senior Beach Ranger. I thought that sounded pretty cool. I do a bit of beach stuff with this job I've just got, too.

you got the job!!!!!!!YAY!!!! congrats :) XxX

My ideal job would be something out and about - not in an office.

I really fancy driving a library bus. Or a recycling truck. Oh and being a keyboardist in a band that went round all the festivals. Guess I better start practising the piano again, eh :D .......god I'm so lazy! :D

A mate of mine works on a Playbus and he absolutely loves it. Driving this big bus around and then doing play activities with pre-school kids. That sounds great.

I quite like the idea of being a post-woman or delivering baguettes by bicycle, somewhere hot and sunny, as well.

Basically, something outdoors with no stress. 'Career' is a dirty word in my book!

I quite fancy being a train driver as well. Esp. on the Wrexham and Shropshire railway...*sigh*

Sounds ace NVP - nice one chap

rocket scientist working some project that is not expected to be finished for at least 20 years due to the materials/technology not being invented yet....like deep sleep/hibernation Mars travel

Writing an operating system from scratch. Mmmm, assembler, device registers, interrupt vectors, resource allocation, scheduling....

Failing that, some sort of multimedia architecture where I could also employ my graphics and musical talents, modest though they are.

And for the icing on the cake it'd be something socially useful rather than just making money, though TBH I'd settle for the latter right now.

This evening I met a woman doing my ideal job.
She's a private investigator  I'm going to stalk her :D
I liked her a lot so that will help :D

Lighthouse keeper or the job I have (lecturer) with the bollocks extracted. Hip young gunslinger - but that would need amending now to hip older gunslinger.
