What would be your ideal job?

Anything apart from the shite I'm stuck in at the moment.

Ideally I would love to go back being a head gardener, that was a job I loved

Man of simple means me :)

Where did you do that? What changed? I haven't got green fingers, but I can imagine that's one of the happiest jobs there is.

My impending joblessness has me thinking about what I would like to do for a job. I started off with 'do nothing and still get paid', but really, my ideal job would be to work in my own independent record shop. Record and/or second-hand bookshop.

What's yours?

I used to want a bookshop, but that's becoming passe if you aren't Chapters etc.

I'd like to be paid just for talking, saying what I want to say. I sort of get paid for talking right now, but it's mostly what other people want me to say. I put my spin on it, try to make it believable.

Ideally, I'd just like to be saying what's actually in my head.

Are you a criminal lawyer then?

Was in Oxfordshire, unfortunatly I was working for a landscape contract company, when I stated as head gardener there were 4 of us to keep 50 acres up, which made it look great!

The company started sacking the others for trivial matters and were then hounding me as the quality was'nt being maintained..yeah go figure, so I jumped as it was literally breaking my heart to see these grounds getting worse and worse, even though during the summer I was doing 14+ hours a day.

It truely is a wonderful job and one day I'm sure I will be back in it, though working for a reputable company, or even myself

I never see jobs for park ranger on any job sites. Would love something like that though

I had a meeting in the week with a bloke who's job title was Senior Beach Ranger. I thought that sounded pretty cool. I do a bit of beach stuff with this job I've just got, too.

Hmmm... Maybe robotics engineer? Cabinet maker/designer?

Oh wait, already do those... :D

</smug cunt>

I'd like to write more, it'd be nice not to be tied to one city too... Would also like to finish my architecture studies, but it's a difficult time for architects and a pretty hellish job anyway. In an ideal world I'd finish that, set up a practice and a crafts atelier whilst writing and travelling the world lecturing. Or something.

Always has a secret desire to be in his place when i rushing in to my 9 to 5.

something that paid a lot and actually did some good....heart surgeon though too squeamish....

Unless you are Stephen King you'll also need a weekly column, a teaching gig and regular collaborative projects.

Maybe owning & running a skatepark so I could sit on my arse eating food and drinking tea all day and do awesome stunt trick manouvres on my break. Or maybe working in a 'proper' bakery.

If there was anything I knew I'd be happy doing indefinitely then I'd say my ideal job would be to do that, but for money. That's pretty sensible I think. Unfortunately nobody is prepared to give me money to do things that I like on my own terms, and jobs which look like they're sort of the same as things I like doing somehow end up not being.

For instance I like making clever-clever dynamic websites and doing virtual world modelling and coding. In theory that's what my job is now. In practice, I don't get to make or do either in the way that I want, rather in the way that a bunch of other people want, and it's not nearly as fun.

Several things I'd like to do -
Actor
Author
Work with animals abroad. Rescue etc.
Work with kids in Third World countries.

A mild-mannered one?
Fucksake I was gonna say that
