What will be the new name for the SWP front?

Maybe they want to make everyone feel good, red and green are the christmas colours after all and it's the season of goodwill ... maybe they want a bit of that goodwill in the form of people voting for them ... ;)

and they don't have a free choice on 'socialist' either - as the Socialist Party (England & Wales), formerly Militant/Militant Labour found out when they tried to register their new name, the miniscule Socialist Party of Great Britain had already registered and the SP had to go by the electoral name 'Socialist Alternative'. The following names with the word "Socialist" are already registered so are out of bounds:

*Mmm* Is a supporter of Socialist Resistance really in a position to call any other group "miniscule"?

How many members did they have at the last count? About 45?

Weird how people on the left try and play the numbers game when it's patently obvious that none of us have got anything to crow about.

The ISG is not a registered party for the contesting of elections. Nor does it have any intention of doing so. It's clearly written in that context.

They'l probably call it something even more cringe-inducingly "hip" and "wiv the yoof". Something that forms an acronym like "Bo!" or "Braap!" or "Boyakasha!" or something equally naff.

I got the impression tha RESPECT outside main areas:London, Birmingham, Preston etc. were holding together despite their respective sides 'differences'.

That's because there's only one of him ;)

On the subject of the relationship of colour combinations to electoral strategy. . .

I was once up on the Shankill road on Belfast (don't ask) and saw a lot of Socialist Party (CWI bods) posters which had a distinctly orange hue. . .

And I'm not making that up, either.

Revolutionary Nostalgia

Re the suggestion that they call themselves the Footies or the Cliffites -
Because the present day SWP have thrown away the legacy of both.
Or maybe if they were on a suitable revolutionary nostalgia kick they could call themselves the Callinicosies ?

Resect

Its easy isn't it? -Can't they just remove one letter and be called RESECT?

This new title can then explain their new strategy of having a 'united front' with themselves alone. RESECT could be an excellent banner around which to rally the SWP faithful, in their 'leftwards' spun retreat away from popular frontism. It could proudly stand as an 'education for socialists' style example of sectarianism, the building of a narrow party controlled front that proclaims itself to be the movement.

Alternatively, could the new fake 'unity coalition' be called Sinn Féin - "ourselves alone"?

They could use the electoral name of that dodgy Kurdish party they were allied to?

I'd guess you meant Kashmiri. Still, who cares as long as it begins with a K?

You remind me of the anti-Kosovans in Hull who outlasted the Kosovans by several years but widened the concept to include Kurds.

Imagine (TM).

A committee will later come up with an inspirational jumble of words it's supposed to be an acronym for.
