What was the last thing you saw at the theatre?

Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell with Tom Conti at the Garrick Theatre

9/10

Would have been 10/10 with Peter O'Toole

Shockheaded Peter with The Tiger Lillies, years ago. Fantastic show.

Otherwise, I never go -[ I just don'y enjoy theatre. So sue me :p

king lear at the young vic

king lear was played by pete postlethwaite....... cracking performance.

Shaolin Monks at Hackney Empire (what a great theatre that is) last November.

The last play I saw was probably 'Journeys' End' at a small North London theatre - one of my old flatmates had a part in it - was very good.

I have rather an odd, off beat taste - I'm not very keen on seeing the majority of West End plays, apart from the expense, they don't usually appeal - I don't like musicals either.

Monkey: Journey to the West @ the Royal Opera house last year.

I saw that at the O2 (well in a little theatre they'd made just by the side of it). I like it quite a bit even though I've never seen the TV series. Friend's wife who was there too thought it was awful!

Last thing I saw was a friend's play at a local amateur theatre, and I laughed (in a good way, it was a comedy) all the way through.

Put On A Happy Face (about Broadway composer Charlie Strouss) at the Landor in Clapham North last night.

I love the theatre.

Same here - I'd never seen the TV series before (Mr LDN had) - the artwork & music were fantastic!
I'd like to start going to the Theatre more - one of those things on my list 'to start doing', instead of just seeing things that are on & thinking "would be nice to go see that..."

Last thing I saw was 'The Good Soul Of Szechuan' at The Old Vic(I think), late last year. Awesome, very interactive kind of play.

I'm GOING to see Madame De Sade soon which has been ripped apart like nothing I have ever seen before. It's got Dench in it too. She's been ripped.

I saw England People Very Nice at the National this last weekend; very funny indeed.

I saw this too, I think it was the last thing I saw. It was ok, quite funny.

Before that I saw August: Osage County at the National which was really good.

That was fantastic. The director and one of the cast did a half-day workshop with my GCSE class the next day, too. Great theatre, the young vic - really into the community education aspect.

great performance but really poor direction, didn't you think? I've rarely seen such a mess of concepts.

I really liked the simplicity of the sets, i really dont know about direction...... i dont really understand how it all works (im not much of a theatre goer).

But the performances were excellent. Especially old petey (postelthwaite) and the guy who plays the nutter.

I saw that too, except I think it was at the Young Vic? With Jane Horrocks?

I just wanted to see some Brecht and I quite liked the way they did it. Had planned to see some Beckett there too but never got round to it.

hmm - the parrallels with Northern Ireland were a bit hamfisted, and the comedy / silliness was so emphasised that there wasn't much feeling of tragedy at the end. I just didn't care that cordelia snuffed it, and that's sposed to be utterly heart-rending. Postlethwaite was amazing within the poor direction he wasset upon, though.
