What was the last thing you saw at the theatre?

Awful. Whistle Down the Wind was a British film. Why were they singing in American accents

For some reason when Andrew Lloyd Webber adapted it he decided to set it in America. It was originally premiered in the US and may have been comission by American producers so that could be why.

It's still shit though!

Depends on your definition of theatre.

Saw Bill Bailey do stand up at the theatre... the Gielgud theatre

Before that:

Saw a live sex show in Amsterdam in a large theatre. It was part of our guided tour.

Before that:

Saw an am-dram production of a Oscar Wilde play (forget which one) in village hall. That was theatre but not in a theatre.

Before that:

Saw jack in the Beanstalk in Cardiff's New Theatre which is a proper theatre but is panto classed as theatre?

The "Around the World" production was amateur and I'd class that as theatre.

Not sure about a live sex show though...performance art maybe :D

Last thing I saw that completely blew me away was the Punchdrunk production of "Masque of the Red Death".

If you're not familiar with Punchdrunk they're whole thing is free roaming, audience participation, completely interactive theatre. Easily one of the best shows (of any medium) I've ever seen. Ever.

They'd done up the Battersea arts centre to resemble a lord's manor or some such & then you just walk around it stumbling across the drama & getting proper involved.

Next time they're in London I will be booking to go & see whatever it is they're doing twice as even though we spent 3 to 4 hours wandering around the place I still felt like I missed loads of stuff - the cabaret area alone is a full evenings worth of entertainment.

Arthur Miller's The Price at Nottingham Playhouse. And very good it was too.

Meant to go and see a South African version of the tempest at Sheffield Lyceum this week, but discovered that I'd already spent all my wages :(

Absolutely. If it wasn't for the wine and fags at the interval, I would have died. :(

I really must go to one of their things. I keep forgetting.

I'd forgotten The Reduced Shakespear's version of The Bible.

Thats probably the last proper live show that I've seen that doesn't involve standup.

we went to see 'Death and The King's Horseman' by Wole Soyinka at the national on tuesday.

i've seen bloody loads of plays lately, but precious few musicals. Last musical i saw was 'wicked' in october 2007.

i get to see a fiar few freebies because of my job, which is ace - and i don't always have to take a couple of dozen stroppy adolescents. sometimes i get free tickets just because.

edit - tuesday wasn't free. but it was only a tenner.

An evening with the Blues Brothers :o Needed more beer tbh.

I am however seeing West Side Story on Broadway next Saturday

Dirty Dancing. Wasn't sure if I'd enjoy it as I love the film but it was

Prior to that I think it was Sound of Music but that wasn't good. Again, I love the film but the stage adaptation just didn't do it for me.
