What was the first music you were consciously aware of

My parents had a bright yellow spherical 8 track player and I remember they had the eagles, James Brown, Andy Williams and Roberto Delgado.
Must have been about 2 at the time.

Strangely enough - this thread reminded me of song which Mum and Dad used to play and sing along to on a Sunday - I think it may have been on some kind of Sunday lunch radio 2 programme  Anyway, it was
"Take these chains from my heart and set me free' by Ray Charles, he had a great voice and I can hear it now. Thing is, it's so pertinent to my life right now. Blimey - thanks for remining me.

I was born in 1970.

Always the charts on Sunday tea time. Otherwise, Elvis and Cliff. The Carpenters, various 50's compilation tracks - The Rock Island Line etc. Our student bought mum Plastique Bertrand - Sa pla pour moi (sp?)

Oh, and rolling our backs with our thumbs in our trousers for the Quo!

I was also thinking that judging by memory ages of peeps on here, my bubba will remember the Fratellis, Gwen Stephani, and Ray Lamontagne

The match of the day theme tune played by my mum on her penny whistle as we busked for spare change outside Woolworths.

Aaaah memories.
