what was said to sol campbell?

I'm no admirer of our disfuctional neighbours, and there's many, many things to dislike them for. But racist club they are not (This is North London FFS!!!!)

What's your point caller? :D

We're a VERY diverse lot up here and we tend to get on.

Haringey itself has 200 languages spoken in it. More then anywhere else in the world (belive it).

Have you ever been to Tottenham Balbi...?????

EDIT TO ADD...I'll carry this on when I get home (if you type anything worth replying to)

tbh it just highlights to me the way in which a lot of fans, particularly at bigger clubs, have got no sense of proportion whatsoever about the game.

I can remember Rovers favourites joining c*ty. They got booed a bit but there was nothing like the offensive levels of abuse Sol Campbell and others have been subjected to. He joined a more successful club because he wanted to win stuff after giving several years of good service to the Tottenham cause. Get over yourselves, you're only upset because your neighbours win stuff and you don't.

don't be so naive. He's hated by Spurs more because of the manner in which he left more than who he left for. If Judas wanted to win stuff he could have gone to many more successful clubs than the ARSE both here, Europe or the rest of the world.

It's hardly surprising, to fans a club is a lifelong attachment, to pros it's generally just where they go to work. And fans are frequently surprised that pros don't see the situation as fans do.

I just meant that North London or North Lancs, there's always gonna be some of that terrible stuff turned out.

For sure, but there's a real (and still alive) tradition in London that you live and let live. Without it, this place (esp North London with it's extraordinary diversity) would goe up like a Roman ( ;) ) candle.

This is why i really think the vitriol again Sol is not racist, homophobic yes. But The Arsenal aren't too pearly white on that count...:o*

*But he is a total cunt.

'hanging from a tree' would not generally imply suicide.

We'll all I can give is my personal account of living two miles away from their ground, knowing a HUGE amount of spuds (my dads one) of all colours and nationalities and I can say that they are not a racist crowd. Stupid muthafeckers, yes. But that's not a crime.

Sadly.

you'd think that the spurs fans would be more concerned about being bottom of the league and would be doing their best to get behind their team but instead they are singing vile, hateful songs about someone that left the club over 7 years ago. Why waste time and energy on somebody that doesn't want to play for you any more?

My source has changed his mind. He has decided that the one that really upset the FA was indeed the "hanging from a tree" song.

He did win stuff though so it worked :) Maybe he didn't want to move very far.

I'd advise you all to get over it and stop being so unpleasant

Odd isn't it.

I don't think there are any words that could be hollered at Sol Campbell that come any where close to what he deserves and he continues to show himself as a slimy snake with nought concept of decency. Hence folks think he ought to swing from a tree.
If he can't handle it after all this time, and as it was 100% of his own making anyway it shows him as the yellow bellied treacherous wrongun that he is. He's a wanker and no mistake imo and so are his mates.

I made exactly this point to a mate of mine who's a Spud's fan.

I suggested that after 7 years it was time to move on - he told me I didn't understand.

After he'd tried to explain it for half an hour I still didn't understand it.

Move on !

Sometimes life's a bitch but you just have to live with it.

I won't condone any racist or homophobic chants about Sol Campbell - that he's black and gay (allegedly) has got nothing to do with why Spurs fans hate him, so don't bring it up.

A 90 minute long rousing chorus of Sol Campbell is a cunt would have done the trick, mostly because he's a cunt.

alternatively, you could all just get over something that happened several years ago

I've gotta say, I agree with those who have said they don't think it's a racist chant. On first reading, I though the swinging from a tree bit was a reference to his depression, lynching never occurred to me. Spuds have loads of black players and always have done - their club captain is black and a hero to the fans so the racism thing doesn't fit for me, as much as I hate Tottenham.
