What TV comedy do you find completely and utterly hilarious?

yeah tbh i wasnt watching one episode but derv was, i was listening to it and the description of the kangaroo had me in stiches for a long while. so i'm hopeful my gamble on tickets for tomorrow will pay off. either way derv will be happy cos he thinks its wikkid.

another good thing in it's favour - it's not catchphrase based humour

is it just me that doesn't get Boosh? i honestly think it's quasi-surreal wank that i thought would only appeal to stoned undergraduates
It used to be on the radio and I didn't like it....same as when Little Britain was on the radio. I never got as far as analysing why i didn't like either....more laughs in The Archers, to be frank.

I got into the radio series after the TV series, and I love it now. It's got a different feel. (And some different characters)

The Office
The Mighty Boosh
Garth Marenghi's Darkplace
The Day Today - In a humour league of its own - underapreciated masterpiece
Family Guy
Classic Simpsons

Top Ten

1. Robin's Nest
2. Keeping up Appearances
3. Waiting for God
4. The Benny Hill Show
5. The Black and White Minstrels
6. Saved by the bell: The college years
7. John Pilger’s Year Zero
8. Shindlers’ List
9. The Battle of Stalingrad
10. Ben Elton’s We Will Rock You (i know it hasn't been on telly yet - but it bloody should!)

I used to know Matt Holness - AKA Garth Marenghi - we're the same age and grew up near each other, but went to different schools. I thought his show was funny, but only in places.

My faves:

Fawlty Towers
The Office
Brass Eye
Alan Partridge
Seinfeld

The unbeleivably ignored 15 Storeys High is brilliant in places, and better than most other comedies even in its quieter moments.

REPEAT IT NOW, surely it could replace Two Pints of Lager for a few weeks without anyone caring (or even noticing)

I think its fucking brilliant myself..

anything with bill bailey on it at the moment. i'm liking the new thing on channel 4 about tv.. telly hell or someting. it was even good when johnny vaughan was on it and he's normally an annoying twat.

i hate the office and anything else that's cringe-based. it causes me actual pain to watch.

I can't believe nobody's mentioned Family Guy yet

Green Wing's the funniest thing on TV at the moment, although having said that I don't watch telly apart from Green Wing, Dr. Who and UFC...

Peep Show really makes me scream, while Curb Your Enthusiasm makes me wants to hide behind the sofa and cringe

Spaced, definitely. And I always say this, and it still isn't a sitcom, but Shameless has been the funniest thing on TV for the last couple of years IMO. :)

my favs are Nighty Night and the League of Gentlemen - does that make me bad ? :D

and the Mighty Boosh only 'made sense' when i watched it on acid

Over here, The Colbert Report (featuring Stephen Colbert previously of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, this parodies right-wing talk shows such as The O'Reilly Factor (in case you haven't heard of it). It's a riot).
Over there, The Office, Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Red Dwarf, etc.

fantastic to see so much support for green wing on here,...

i know the speeded up bits wind people up - they wash over me - but it's so bloody good if you see past that.

"Confiscatio!"... the toss of the bouncy ball thing into the pocket was one of the most perfect set pieces I've seen in a loooong time. Green Wing is quality.

I think we have been really lucky with TV comedy in the last ten years. There's been at least one ground-breaker (often more) every year. It wasn't like that in the seventies kids. Or even the eighties.

I'm glad someone else thought so. I've watched that scene nuff times now. Pure perfection. The actor who plays Alan is the new John Cleese. He was great in Big Train and Spaced aswell
