You know, I forgot that they even existed until I saw an advert for Blood Orange Tropicana on the side of a Tropicana Original Orange carton.

I used to have them a lot when I was a nipper (about 4 years old), thanks to my dear mommy :)

I've not seen them in fruit and veg shops nor supermarkets (actually WTF do you see in supermarkets these days... the diversity-killing ready-meal-pushing three-out-of-thousands-of-apple-variety-selling mother f***ers)

Can you actually get them fairly easily these days or are they as rare as gold?

I haven't seen them recently, but then I haven't looked for them either, apparently blood orange juice in a martini is terribly trendy here, don't you know  but then so is pomegranate juice and I haven't seen that much either!! ;) :p :D

I remember blood oranges as a kid but aint seen em since apart from in cartons of orange juice, shame they were lovely

I remember a cool story in my 'Misty' annual about a girl who met a vampire who wanted blood oranges and they were full of real blood. Then she woke up

It was scary when I was 10 :p

They are in season from March to May but I have usually found that they don't stay in the shops that long.

Their rind is amazingly tasty and fragrant when added to cakes.

WHERE ARE THE ******* BLOOD ORANGES

I'll look out for some on the market or at my local mega-expensive fruit and veg shop in the summer.

Those pesky wombles
 The Bastards!!! Now I know why, when i was a little youth, I didn't trust the Wombles like I trusted Thomas the Tank and Thundercats. I knew they were evil, the little orange bastards. They just didn't look right. The decieving bastards. Tricked us all into thinking they were doing a good job by recycling, when the truth is that they were just using that as a cover for their blood orange hoarding plot. Bastards!!!

the first time I ever had a blood orange was two years ago, in my school's cafeteria. i thought it was rotten or something. They showed up again in the cafeteria last november for a week or so and then dissapeared.

Sainsburys (yuk) have them but they're in that phony Taste The Difference range and therefore more expensive than ordinary oranges...I always thought they were cheaper.

Could be in for a comeback...we never used to see pink grapefruit and now they're easier to find than normal ones.
