What temp work have you done?

Print finisher.
Warehouse operative.

The second one was OK, cos I got to drive a fork lift. And walk round with a pocket full of dust in case the works manager came round, so I could sweep it up and look busy. Happy days. :)

The best temp job i had was back home here during the summer break from uni in that there London.

I worked in a kebab shop for an Iraqi mate of mine. Not exactly typing to Hugo Boss i admit but fun all the same.

Combined with the tanning effect of the donner spit and my curly locks i was often mistaken for a mucky foreigner. I had great sport at the expense of many a drunk bloke and bird up north those summers. At 2 am when your sober and most of your clientele are mashed on class A's it great what fun you can have. Not to mention the after work party's.

The postroom is always good.. lots of tea and everone likes you (or pretends they do becuase you have access to a franking machine)

Oooh I forgot about that temp job. I worked as a postmonkey in the British Medical Association for a while. It was fucking mint.

We used to get sent lots of mail by nutters, including a guy who sent us a packet of mud saying it was the cure for aids, a guy who thought he was a homosexual werewolf etc...

We'd do the morning round, then get wankered at the pub, come back a few hours later for the evening round. A shame I wasn't a fully paid up member - the BMA had struck a deal which saw to it that every gp's salary increase was mirrored percentagewise by the other staff in the building.

We had posties on 30k

I also had a great collection of post bags - green, red, yellow (French, I think) as well as the standard grey

One summer I worked in a custard tart factory packing custard tarts into boxes.

The following summer I worked in a pasty factory packing pasties into boxes

Then call centre work

I worked in the same custard tart factory.

Then I worked in the same pasty factory. But there were only 2 jobs available. So C got the packing job, as I saw her poor veggie face when they said the other one was picking bones out of chicken...

The gig she didn't get, which I did one summer - no word of a lie - was fudge packing. :D

The joys of growing up in Cornwall :D

My first temp job was in a big office, updating mortgage records. We were each penned into a small booth so that we could only see the tops of other workers' heads. At 12:00, a pre-recorded announcement was made over the PA system: "Team A may now go for their lunch". About 1/4 of the workforce stood and went off to the canteen. At 12:30 the same voice informed Team B that it was their turn. I went to the pub. The next day I called the agency and told them that it was too boring and that I wasn't going back.

A few years later, deperate for cash, I signed up with another agency. The job was in the Post department of an insurance company. My first morning was spent sat next to a girl who had been eating a bacon & egg sandwich. The egg had run down her top, and she occupied herself with picking bits of dried egg from her name badge holder. I left at lunch time.
