What Song Would You Like Played At Your Funeral?

Morbidly enough, I think about this all the time, and it changes from week to week. Looking my most listened to playlists though, Jose Gonzalez is a definite candidate. Or maybe 'Solid Air' by John Martyn.

Back in the dark days when I used to visit the Interpol message board, I remember reading a 'What would you like to be the last music you hear?' type thread which contained a hilariously po-faced post by an especially emo fan, going into massively specific detail about how he would kill himself to a particular Joy Division album. He'd thought about it for years, it had a neatly timed schedule and everything, ending with him bleeding out of his slashed wrists to the last fading moments of the final track. Fucking idiot.

Fortunately the mood was ruined by someone else posting that they wanted 'Uncle Fucker' from the South Park movie to be the last thing they heard :D

hmm, not as many as i thought. :)

OK, i'll answer the question sensibly then. at the moment i'd like either Highway to Hell by AC/DC or Ain't Misbehavin' by Fats Waller.

Maybe Keith Harris and Orville's "I Wish I Could Fly".

For something more sombre and downbeat, maybe Brian Eno's "By this River".

Well the Ramones are my all time favourite band, so probably either:

Here Today, Gone Tomorrow

(for the title, though one of their weakest songs)

or

Why is It Always This Way?

lol at the number of times this has been done BUT always like talking about it bizarely...

Ladysmith Black Mambazo is one act that came to mind. I've always loved their music and I think it would work well at a funeral.

I think it would definately take people's mind off the grief for a bit!!

I'd like something by Prodigy, Spitfire maybe - something my parents couldn't cope with and my brothers and mates would love :)

Oh, never chose the songs yourself. Hire a mobile DJ from the Yellow Pages, and he will chose timeless songs that appeal to young and old mourners alike and ensure that your ceremony is a success. YMCA, medleys from Grease, Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep, and so on.

"Not this again" would be a good song to have played at your funeral imo. I really hope somebody's actually written a song called "not this again". *crosses fingers*

'will it be chips for tea tonight?
will it be salmon or frozen peas...?
will it be mushrooms, fried onion rings?
You'll have to wait and see!

HOOOPE IT'S CHIPS IT'S CHIPS!
WE HOOOPE IT'S CHIPS, IT'S CHIPS!...'

OOH, I'm wellin up already...
