OU, should have warned knew, I knew from your general film tastes you wouldn't like Serenity - and as Swarfega said, its not even that good as a standalone film anyway, you have to watch Firefly first. Not that I'm recommending you do, just saying that even for people who do like that kind of thing, they should watch Firefly first and then Serenity.

Basically it was doomed as soon as you put it in the DVD player

I hate Buffy too and get quite annoyed when my flatmat and friend extol its virtues - "BUT IT'S FOR KIDS! GROW UP!"
I think early 20s is a fine age to watch it (I loved Heartbreak High) but once your over the hump of 30, it's time to get po-faced and serious - to me it just seems like a waste of time watching that kind of stuff :)

You dont want to borrow my Firefly box set then? :(

But why shouldn't people enjoy something at any age?

I mean, I don't hear you making the same argument about music, that when one gets past 30 it should be only classical, jazz, billy joel and eric clapton...

They shouldn't - I just usually find TV aimed at teenagers clichéd and boring

What makes it "aimed at teenagers" particularly?

Would you say that most pop music is aimed at teenagers?

I dunno - I expect different things from pop music than I do from telly and films. When I glimpse things like Sugar Rush, The OC and Hollyoaks, I feel like I'm doing something a bit wrong and the police are going to be knocking on the door anytime soon an arrest me for being a perv. I don't when I'm listening to Girls Aloud

Serenity was so bad it made me mad.

Apparently, it isn't so dumb and self-contradictory if you have followed firefly.. but personally i can't think of any back-story that could redeem it from pointlessness.

I don't think Firefly was aimed at teenagers anyway. I reckon its core target audience was people like me, blokes in their late 20s/early 30s who loved the original Star Wars films, were disappointed with the prequels and wanted something a bit more authentically star warsy.

Brothers Grimm is good mindless fun. I've never seen the other one.

One interesting thing in Grimm: the bad guys are French. Maybe it's part of the new reality in Hollywood filmmaking.

Yeah there's been a shift away from the old 'English baddie' thing hasn't there?

No. The english are still bad, but now, you've been joined by the French.

But all is not lost. Hollywood is still relying on you to play Romans in period pieces.

nah that cunt who plays spike has the most excrutiating cod english accent and buffy still fucked him

Her name's Buffy, for christ's sake. She can't tell real brit from fake brit.

And who can figure? Even vampire fighting girls fall for that toffee nosed crap...

Yes, Jabberwocky is great.

Nah, you're OK, but do you have The Wire? :)

We've got Season One which you can borrow if you like. It's brilliant. :)

I really enjoyed Serenity, btw. :o

I saw Brothers Grimm last night and that was shit too - very disappointing.
There was one fantastic sequence with a faceless child and a mud monster and the Mirror Queen shattering was pretty cool but it was a fucking stupid film - it was supposed to be a comedy but it was just embarrassing.
And isn't Peter Stormare the hammiest actor since John Lithgow?
