What Rare Record Would You Die For?

Many thanks. if theres a chance she might want it, put it up.

i would say though dont put up something so deeply Syd unless the two of you actually care about him though (although its a great cover).

Fuck me Cheesy - do you want to come and decorate for us? :D

If it's there and she don't want it in the music room, it's yours. I'm packing last week this month.

Probably The Beatles' White Album number 000001

Checks my copy - drat. :(

Also, Sgt Peppers, Help and two copies of Let It Be.

I picked up a strange record by McCartney the other week, titled Press. There's a sticker on the cover saying "Manufacturers Property NOT FOR SALE". Worth owt?

Was it a release for press distribution only?

No, that's the title. I'm listening to it now for the first time. The present track has McCartney's vocals slowed down with drums and other synth sounds. Sounds experimental, which I find unusual for McCartney.

The cover is a sketch of the different instruments in their place in the mix like a producer would.

The whole record contains 23 minutes of music including a collectors track.

Two tracks on each side.

*turns over other side*

The same tune Press is there but a different version than the first side, vocals slowed down again - a sort of deep pitch change.

Generally it sounds shit, like most of McCartney's solo efforts, but I bought it thinking some record collector might fork out some dosh for it. :D

one of the copies of organum's 'hibakusha' 7" that david jackman personalised and gave away to his mates - 10 of these in existence, i think. i'd make do with the 'standard edition' single, 59 copies made - that does occasionally (very occasionally) turn up on ebay. i think a copy of one of the really rare ones turned up on ebay once, but i'd have serious questions about its provenance tbh. it's annoying as i did used to know the guy then lost touch with him a couple of years before he did all these hyper-rare releases in the mid 90s. ah well.

Thats so easy.

The Madcap Laughs by Syd Barrett.

If anyone has it on vinyl and dont want it, itd mean the world to me :)

I've got both his albums on vinyl but after 25 odd years they're like much loved family pets so you'll just have to kill me to get them :)

Incidentally, I bought the CD about 10 years ago - as part of my plan to semi-retire my vinyl - but some fucker stole it (when we got burgled along with all our other CDs) and I can't afford to start replacing them all again so I bought another turntable and it's vinyl all the way.

Don't know if it's that rare but the record I most want is my shocking pink 12" of the Rolling Stones 'Miss You' that my ex stole along with the rest of my vinyl collection a few years ago. How ironic, as I miss the vinyl more than him.

I've been lucky enough to find most of my most wanteds. At the moment it's probably Saturday Night Special by Michael Dyke, came on 7" in 1975 on the Kugich Agulla label.

I've only seen it once, and that on a list from one of the big reggae dealers. It was £90 in Ex condition and by the time it got to pay day it had gone.

Fortunately I have it on LP and CD so I can enjoy it in the mean time.

I've seen new pressings of Madcap Laughs around here, made by S12 IIRC, I think. It's not the same thing, but surely beats the CD version :p

I'd go with the original pressing of Blue Monday.

Any of the 100s of Blues 78s from the 20s and 30s that haven't survived.

I wouldn't die for them though as I wouldn't be able to listen to them.

I have a copy of Dance Craze signed by Chrissy Boy from Madness but i don't think it's worth shit, apart to me

ive got a 23skidoo/400 blows 12" which i think is on sordid sentimental.ive also got the bjork album on "debute" on cassette somewhere (maybe up attic).will have a look.if i can find em you can have em.

I dunno. Isn't that sad, that I shoudl not really have any record that I'd spill blood for. I guess I lost my mojo for it when I finally got a copy of Wild & Wandering's 30,000 Light Ales From Home :(

just checked on discogs, sorry its on saderal.my memorys shite, but will still have a look for thr bjork tape when i get home

Can't see the point in dieing for a record. How would you be able to enjoy it?

I think I have most of what I want now anyway.
