What posters did you have on your teenage bedroom wall?

I had wall-to-wall Duran Duran, which was replaced by wall-to-wall AC/DC (yes, sweaty Bon, check, sweaty Angus....:) ).

What I can't remember is whether the transition was gradual, or whether I ripped one lot down all at once. I vaguely remeber feeling a little sad to see John "cheekbones" Taylor go, but knowing that it was time. :o

My walls were covered in pictures and cuttings of anything I found interesting. I had one 'black and white' wall which had all b/w cuttings including P J Harvey, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, a drawing my mum did of our old cat, a photo of my brother age 7ish (looking pensive in the woods), shot of rows and rows of police on a demo with a bloke in front holding a sign saying 'POLICE STATE', photocopied Carol Ann Duffy poem, drawing my friend did for me of Evan Dando, fucking loads of other shit I can't even remember...

Other walls had a similar mishmash of cards, interesting drawing culled from magazines etc., party and gig flyers including those from my short-lived teenage band, cartoons from Melody Maker and such, a bizarre cartoon of Brad Dourif as Pieter de Vries from Dune that my friend drew, and lots more ephemera. Plus a big pastel abstract my mum did, which I still have and really need to get framed before it falls apart.

I bet my stepmum had a fucking one woman party the day I moved out and she could force my old room into the same state of blandness as the rest of our flat.

Did any of the other 80s pre-teens have a Pierrot bedroom?

Everyone seems to have forgotten about him now, but when I was about 10 or so, I had the whole bedroom :o - duvet cover, wallpaper, curtains, the works. :o I used to draw Pierrots almost as much as I drew horses.

The Young Ones with Cliff, Husker Du's Zen Arcade, Dead Kennedys and my own montage of Winston Smith type newpaper photos and strange headlines ( :o :o :o )

When I was 16 I had posters of my now husband on my headboard. :o

Are you Mrs Gary Numan?

My bedroom evolved over the years, same as many people, but The Beatles and Queen were a mainstay.

Roughly in order of putting up and taking down, I had posters of:

Boomtown Rats

Beatles

Queen

Rocky Horror

Pink Floyd

Guns n' Roses

Motley Crue

Kiss

Poison

Metallica

Nirvana

Oasis

Glastonbury aerial shot

Crop circle pics

The Doors

Trainspotting

sparklefish - I'm sorry to shit all over your teenage fantasy, but I'm afraid I always thought (and still do) that Simon Mayo had what I can only describe as 'a shifty complexion'... :p :(

You'll not hear me laughing Skim!

I've got a signed copy of Five Easy Pieces  I sent my cassette cover to LCATC guitarist Neil Clark along with a letter asking him about which guitars he used (yes, I am a spod) and, to my utter surprise, he wrote a long and very funny letter back to me, along with my cassette cover signed by everyone in the band – it was ace  :D

Tsk!

My Lloyd Cole 12 inch remixes are filed in a place I hardly ever touch – next to the Muppet Show albums :(

Ok - it's fair to say that you were a far more committed fan than me then.... :D :p ;)

I found loads of my other stuff in there too. :(
At least he has them available for you. Not as evil as me with an ex who only liked 2 albums by Jethro FUCKING Tull, and only ever wanted to listen to them. I took the cds out of their cases and put them into empty cases with different titles on. Once he realised what I'd done, it drove him nuts trying to find them, and I would just sit there and cackle, watching him rooting about. He got bored before I did. Result!
