What paint would you use to paint wellies?

Ones that had to look exactly like certain people. My dad and I did this thing on stage where we were pretending to be each other so I made clay heads of us and painted them with latex. It was a very convoluted thing we did but we also had two other people pretending to be us as well so it was a kind of double scam thing. People were coming up afterwards and saying 'How the fuck did you do that?' :D I've still got my dads one in a box upstairs I think, I'll show you when you come round.

I also did one of a local Tory councillor so my dad could stand as him in a fake election. It felt very weird putting the clay head in a bucket of water to reclaim the clay :D

What? How do you do that? I have a few people I need to be for a few hours. Could you post up the method? Ta :)

Already did :D I made a clay head about 15% larger than lifesize to allow for 'ease' and shrinkage and then painted it with loads of layers of thickened latex, drying it with a hairdryer in-between coats. Then I painted it with latex paints.

There's other ways of doing it using moulds but that way didn't make snese to my addled brain.

But you can't wear them can you? Better to get wear out of them than spend almost the same on wellies and paint.

They'd look shit cut off at the top - they have a buckle. I'd rather give them to somene who could wear them than fuck them up for the sake of it. I might be able to wear them later in the year anyway. And there's no way I'm planning on spending £30 on wellies and paint :D

Hmmm. You couldn't move the buckle down and cover the join with something?

BTW cheap shoe places often have patterned wellies. Peacocks and Primark definitely had some last year, as well as that other cheap shoe place whose name I forget.

How do you make a clay head? Where do you get the clay from?

For some reason I've got the image of that blind chick out of Hello slapping around in a mud pit trying to get enough clay to form Lionels huge mullopermed swede  Is this what you did? Surely you'd need a hundred packs of Fimo to make even half a head?

I want to do this. I'll make some freak as fuck masks. Did you post it here? Suburban? :)

If you do, can I help? It sounds fun.

I know all that :)

I want to buy some cheap black wellies and paint them. I don't want to cut up my nice ones, I don't want to buy some patterned ones.

I used terracotta clay I got from a local supplier and yeah, I sculpted it. I didn't post it on here - it was before I joined. Fimo is not what you need :D

Course

Terracotta heads man. I'm gonna make loads and put them round the rim of my house like gargoyles. I might just make them all lionel heads in fact, nothing could be weirder than that :)
