what old punk floats your boat?

Well, 'new rose' by the dammed is one of my top favoritist tracks ever... do the Stooges count? do the New York Dolls count? What about the Pink Fairies?

What about Ruts D.C.
I used to have the Album Once: Slight Reggae Influence In The Bass Riffs & Drum.
Had a picture of a lizard or Iguana on the front.

Ever heard of a band called Faction.
Had a couple of singles with an old Film Actress
on the front.

Oh dear, it seems I don't like many punk bands. If it's up to 1990 as someone mentioned on the thread though.

The Dwarves - second and third album
Stiff little fingers - first album only
rapeman

I'm sure there is a couple more but I give up.

Oh oo oo - guitar wolf formed in 1988 or was it 86? Anyway they must count.

 What about The Apostles: Probably One of the Best Anarch=Punk Bands In The World.

The Apostles were crap but still might be one of the best Anarcho-Punk bands. At least they were one of the few bands on that scene who sounded a bit different.

My honourable mentions:

Johnny Moped
Wire
Desperate Bicycles
Swell Maps
Snivelling Shits
Rocket From The Tombs
Spizz Oil
The Saints
Radio Birdman
Kleenex
Mekons
Suicide
The Avengers
The Wipers

Blitz
Discharge
Anti-Pasti
Angelic Upstarts

erm...

Infa-Riot
4-Skins
Last Resort
The Oppressed
The Business

:o

punk died when the pistols started releasing music! :p

bands that haven't been mentioned (i dont think):
the vibrators,
citizen fish
uk subs
bad brains

The Vibrators wre one of those bands that were a "special case" though, imho. They rode the punk vibe, they wore the clothes, but one of the singers sang with a yank accent and many of their songs were blandly poppy in an MOR kind of way. They had some decent tunes (Automatic Lover, Stiff Little Fingers, Sulphate), but they weren't exactly "first division".

Adam & the Antz ("Dirk Wears White Sox" vintage)
The Only Ones
Skids (for Jobbo's bravado lyrics and Adamson's beautiful guitar-work)
The Adverts
The Ruts
X-Ray Spex
The Damned
The Clash
Buzzcocks
Wire
The Stranglers
Undertones
Stiff Little Fingers
Banshees
The Cure

Loads of new wave and "2nd-wave of punk" stuff too.

Subhumans, Zounds and The Mob were always my favourites...

I think I've seen The Mob more times than any other band. They seemed to play in London every week back in 1981.

Oh, and ViolentPanda's list is the closest to my own. Adding Wire purely for the wonderful Pink Flag.

there moor mid age punk,
like operation ivy i guess, they'd go in there, late 80's.
the times ive spent driving in my car when by myself trying to say:
"the petitions thats been taken,
is not be mistaken,
for attempted education,
or rasict accusations,
only a description,
just an observation,
of the pityful conditionts ,
of our good generation!" room without a window- op ivy

A pal and me interviewed Knox out of the Vibrators for a fanzine, asking really dull questions like 'Why are you called The Vibrators?' etc etc.

We wrote to loads of bands asking for interviews but they were the only well-known one that were up for being interviewed. Adam Ant wrote a nice sort of 'can't do it but good luck' letter.

Knox bought us pints in the pub because we were too young to get served. :o
