what no thread about burying mohammed in an unmarked grave?

It is not a matter of being ¨special.¨

We are human beings. Therefore we see things as human beings see them.

That's it. That´s all.

I have to say, I see nothing controversial in this whatsoever.

Yes no problem with that what so ever but once you extrapolate that and give privelege to our experience to non sentient beings on our planet you delve into the world of human narcissism which is quite redundant imo

God you guys are so sensitive.

But I suspect the truth is that your rage results from the challenge to your previously unexamined assumptions. It can be a disconcerting experience.
Heh, rage... Nice try son, you're not that important :)

I seem to recall the abhidharma explains human experiences in a way that sees them as self-generating moments (dharmas) that have no actual experiencer as they don't agree there's such a thing as an abiding self. Just did a Gooogle trying to find an explanation from someone properly versed in this but the one really relevant looking paper was paywalled, tho you can read a fair bit: http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11097-014-9354-2#page-1
Similar idea to what I was saying - the experiencer is also a part of that self-generated image. imo it is interesting how certain ideas in modern science accord very closely with Buddhist ideas.

I thought Phil's attempts to rationally prove the existence of God were dead and buried, but they seem to have risen from the grave.

Is it possible to stick them in an unmarked grave, preferably after driving a stake through their heart...?

for shame

apparently the saudis are at least thinking of demolishing mohammed's tomb and reburying him in an unmarked grave, which might irritate the shias among us. it seems a rather bad idea.

The Wahabists have since their inception believed in destroying the tombs in Medina. I believe apart from Mohammed, Abu Bakr and Umar there is an empty tomb which awaits the arrival of Jesus body.

Back in '07 the Saudi Minstry of Islamic affairs endorsed a statement saying the Domes would be destroyed.

I'm not religious (an atheist) but I find the destruction of historic sites whether secular or religious disgusting. They represent part of the cultural and architectural history of the human race (in all it's complexity, both good and bad), whether it be Chartres, Salisbury Cathedral, Machu Pichu, the Great Wall of China or the tombs in Medina.
Even when lacking in what we would call cultural value some historic sites really act as a warning to future geneations - don't let this kind of awful thing happen again (for example: the Nazi concentration camp museums, the WW1 cemeteries etc.)

This wanton vandalism and destruction is utterly depressing. Sadly as we have seen with the Taliban and ISIS the fundamentalist elements of Islam fueled by Saudi Wahabist ideology and money are some of the worst perpitrators of this at the moment.

jesus at least safe as he either ascended to heaven or his body has gone towards relics of saints, e.g. a shinbone of st john the baptist, a metatarsal of st paul etc etc ad nauseam.

poor old Doubting Thomas, his name is now a byword for pigheaded disbelief when really it is quite reasonable to assume if someones been crucified and buried then they have pretty much had it

They could give the coffin to the Pope to sit on in the Vatican and maybe give Benjamin Netanyahu Mohammed's skull from which he could drink babies blood while riding a drone over Iran. Wahhabis seem to really want it all to kick off at the end of the day.

They've got company in the far right Christian corner.

I just rode my ass into jerusalem to loud aclaim, recon I've got a good gig here. What could go wrong.
