A very good performance by Hatton. About as good as he's looked against a top quality opponent since Tszyu (Castillo was past his best in my view). He was less wild and less prone to wrestling and his punches were more accurate than they have been.
His defence had improved a bit and he was actually slipping some punches, which he rarely managed before. He is still relatively easy to hit by the standards of world class pros though. It doesn't matter so much at 140 lbs where very few opponents have the power to put him away, but it's yet another reason why he really doesn't belong at 147.
It seems that Hatton is planning to stay with Floyd Mayweather Sr for the long haul. That's a very wise decision and one that he should have made years ago. If Hatton had been with a top class trainer earlier, I think he'd be a very much better boxer now.
Hatton Pacquiao could be a great fight. Pacquiao is the better fighter but he'd be giving away a size advantage (in terms of frame that is, Pacquiao is about the same height and probably has a longer reach). Two guys who really come to fight. Two hugely popular fighters. I doubt if there's anyone who wouldn't like to see it. Unfortunately De La Hoya is in the way and really neither Pacquiao nor Hatton have any business at all being in the same ring as a guy who not very long ago was giving Bernard Hopkins a good workout. They will look like midgets in there. It's a fucking disgrace.
