what new stuff is good?

if you like a bit of drum and bass the new sub focus album is alright (i've only had a quick listen however)

the new dizzee rascal album is more of the same, and i swear there was another album i was going to get hold of but i forgot what it was

aw sweet forgot about sub focus, will go check that out now thanks!

The Low Anthem - Oh My God, Charlie Darwin

not a new band, but it's a new album (well, not tremendously new actually), and it's really rather good

not sure what sort of stuff you're into though

almost everything except acid techno, most house, and mainstream hip hop.

i'd forgotten that i heard good things about that album so it's next on my list. cheers soj.

listening now as sub focus wasn't as good as i was hoping. this is nice. good recommend sojourner, thanks.

maybe not that new, but yesterday i had a listen to and found that i like Invasion - a metal band with vocals from chantel ex of do me bad things.

WTF!?? i've just noticed the comments by some twat underneath the video

Mammal - Vol 2: Systematic/Automatic. Hard/rock funk
Profane Omen - Inherit the Void. Proper groooove metal, whiffs of Pantera.
Cloudkicker - The Map is not the Territory. Proggy/metally/rocky, brilliiant stuff, he's a one man band as well..
SlipKnoT - Self Titled, re master + Bonus tracks. Flat out metally goodness, people love to hate 'em, but Corey's lyrics have it.
Mastodon - Crack the Skye. Mind expanding shit, progressive metal at its finest...

Enjoy!

cheers, i like the mastodon album and i think the first slipknot album has aged very well considering how much i hated them the first time round. i'll check them out.

I second the recomendation of Invasion. Been listening to them quite a bit lately.
Other new(ish) stuff I've been enjoying...

Why? - Eskimo Snow - pretty songs in an Anticon style.
Manatees - big doomy riffs, with post rocky/ Isis atmospheric bits
Lightning Dust - Infinite Light- erm, folky (I hate using that term in such a lazy way, but fuck it, you know what I mean...) indie rock. Nice voice, lovely songs.
Bibio - Ambivalence Avenue - sort of lofi taped folk recordings meets wonky electronics.

today I have discovered Castanets - Texas Rose Thaw and the Beasts

it is fucking ACE - and I do mean ACE

but every link I ever look at spells the album name differently

Kings of Leon the first few albums are a safe-bet. just good rock and roll albums if you ask me. I am sure they'll be far too mainstream for some on here, but a lot of the hype is well-deserved. good albums.
