What music did you like but are ashamed that you did?

the only genre that i've been into over the years that i am ashamed of has to be my psy-trance phase (:o ) from about '94-'97. so ashamed in fact that i gave away about 150 records to someone on this very site so i would no longer have people encountering them whilst browsing through my tunes...

having said that, i had a brilliant time off my head on acid listening to them so theres still some very good times associated with that part of my life. :)

I don't think I'm ashamed of anything I have liked, Music should be celibrated in every form. If you like it you like it, being ashamed is snobbery.

Damn right . I used to have loads of Status Quo records when I were younger and although they went fucking shit I still maintain the early stuff was fucking good !

I did have a vanilla ice tape and an MC Hammer one too but they were presents from my Brother and MC Hammer is at least vaguely funny :D

:D

Pwned

when i was a kiddie i liked radio one pop, in my early teens i liked dodgy metal which is ok. i was into grunge, and manics, rock, indie, and metal. at about the same time nu-metal and skate punk was killing the scene i started going to dnb shows and whatnot, and these days i like almost everything.

yeah, it would be embarrassing if i saw photos of myself aged 13 in a slayer shirt and whatnot, but fuck it i was a teenage crusty and looked like a person who might break out in juggling at any minute. i certainly couldn't listen to some of the shite i used to listen to, because it was shite.

I was once upon a time into Mariah Carey big time :o :o :o

Although to be fair I was a hormoned up young lad who really had the horn for her. :D

I can't stand her myself.

So you were just dancing round the room to get a confession out of me ?

I should have known better than to fall for that cheap trick. :(

I'm ashamed of no music I used to listen to, couldn't give a fuck if others think its shite... but I do hang my head when I say I was your typical soapbar smoking pink floyd fan :D

as an aside - a woman i work with, intelligent, kind, reasonable, perfectly fine human being - admits to liking almost no music at all. ever. doesn't understand it, doesn't know what the point of it all is.

poor darling - i just wish there was something i could do.

There's nothing I'd really be ashamed of - I liked it at the time, so that's OK. I mean, there's some horrors in my past, mainly cos when i was in my early teens I was surrounded by older mates and my weird uncle and I listened to Marillion, Camel, Barclay James Harvest and the like. I even had two Dire Straits albums. AND saw Tina Turner live.

But my tastes today - which make me very happy - must have evolved from the shit I used to like, so I honestly don't feel embarassed by any of it.
Exactly how I feel that

I used to like Rush and Marillion.....I still like rush from permanant waves to grace under pressure but cant listen to anything earlier than that except for a joke. I have never tried to listen to marillion in the last 20 years but would be interested to see what I thought - I must try some as an experiment. I have lots of dodgy house records that were good at the time but I will never listen to again in a million years...

Oh god. I've just remembered I went to go and see 'Extreme' in concert. :o

And I've got their album. And a CD extended single of 'Only Words'. :o

I absolutely LOVED Culture Club and their Colour By Numbers album. Not ashamed of that at all (maybe I should be?!), still think it's a classic.

There's only really one CD in my collection that I'm slightly embarrased of, and thats Dido. I can't imagine ever replaying it. Lord knows I don't want the memories of that time re-kindled...

are you me?! I had to throw the cd away - reminds me of a horrible time (and not just because i was listening to dido at the time :o )
