What make up do you wear (if any) on a normal day?

Benefit rocks

Nowt on days working from home

If venturing out beyond walking distance: powder foundation, benetint, Bene moonbeam, eyeshadow, eye liner, mascara, lipstick. All of which (with the exception of eye liner) are mostly ditched if I can't be bothered.

foundation, Touche bloody Eclat, eyeliner, mascara, bit of neutral lippy just for definition.

Don't wanna scare the squaddies :D

Depends what you wanna do innit. Generally the lighter colour can go on the whole lid and then you put the darker one at the outer corner, socket line and lashes. varying what goes where depending on what shape you want.

smokey eyes on youtube... -hmm. she's calling brushes pencils though. edit: Ignore that video! she's mad.

Light on lid, darker outside <makesnotes>

What would I be doing if I did that? Making my peepers look bigegr or whichever? What else could be done then? :)

I usually wear; foundation, greyish eyeshadow (lids only) mascara and lip gloss everyday and the same but vv dark grey eyeshadow and liner at weekends. Just fancy looking a bit more pro so pls advise me if you're arsed to :)

workday - grey eyeliner pencil, black mascara, foundation / concealer as needed.

going out - concealer, foundation, eyeshadow (up to 3 colours), black eyeliner pencil (or green, or blue or white), black mascara (or green or blue or red), body shop glow enhancer on cheeks, lipstick (occasionally)

Is it spangles? I don't use Benefit mascara. Can't afford to buy ALL my stuff from them unfortunately....or fortunately if the mascara is crap lol.
Ooooo Biddly likes it.....ok. Horses for courses :)

Are you a fan of any benefit?

I'm liking the bodyshop tip as I quite had my eye on benetint. I do want the er, "realness of concealness" though.
i love benefit - i just think the bodyshop's version of benetint is a deeper colour and more blendable.

The mascara was such a disappointment. I looked like a panda by 5pm every single day.:(

I think this look makes your eyes look bigger and more defined - the classic Marilyn Monroe eye make-up job was pale cream coloured shadow all over the lids, then darker shade (brown/grey) brushed along the socket line and smudged into the outer corners. Finish with some liquid liner and you've got glamorous eyes.

You can do this with colours too, obviously - I've got a gorgeous electric blue Urban Decay shadow that I like to smudge just onto the outer corners of my eyelids, gives a real lift to the eye and goes great with very black liquid eyeliner. Or sometimes I brush pale green over the lid, then do the socket line/outer corner thing with a deep shiny grey-green, and add lots of kohl along the rim of my eyelids.

Sometimes I'll just go for an all over colour block on the lids, though. My iridescent blue/purple Urban Decay shadow works well like this, as does the sludgey blue/green Cargo shadow.

I love eye make up. It's always my main focus whenever I bother wearing any face paint.

the applicator on the body shops one is better imo, the benetint one is like a nail varnish brush but the body shops is like a lip glass wand so it makes it a bit easier, for me anyway. benetint might last longer though because theres loads in the little pot of it

think i might try body shops glow enhancer :)

Yeah. Bigger. Or just more attention grabbing. Generally using the lighter colour on the whole lid will open and brighten the eye (please say that in a sales singsong chirpy voice). Then adding the darker liner colour bit gives some definition while if you also put the darker bit in your socket line (from roughly the middle to the outer corner) it gives some depth. or um. something.

You could try your normal grey over the whole lid and then. Um, if you divide your lids into three (nearest the nose, middle, then outer corner) stick the darker grey on the outer third. then smudge it together so you're not stripey. I'd apply the whole lot with fingers and then soften the edge with a clean finger (so you don't get an abrupt end to the shadow). Add liner and mascara. ta da!

I hope that makes sense. Let me know if my outer corner made up terminology doesn't work for you. :D

(beaten to it by May. :) I LOVE urban decay eyeshadows. )

Thanks v much May and Drag0n. I'm not sure why I don't know this stuff tbh but there we go - I do now :)

I think I phrased that wrong. What benefit products do you like? :)

I've got a body shop glow enhancer (the silver capped one). Mine has been going strong for about five years. A little goes a long way!

I'm sure it all depends on how much messing about with slap you did as a carefree youngster. I spent loads of time doing very inadvisable eye make up experiments on myself (acid yellow on the lids, acid orange up to the browbone, unblended, anyone?) and gradually developed a load of tricks and techniques. Whereas my best friend didn't really, and now doesn't wear much eyeshadow. This generally results in me trying to accost her with a loaded brush whenever we're getting ready to go out :D

Because you've never bothered to find out? :D

I was the only make up wearer in the house growing up so I just trialled and errored. I'd probably class my interest in make up as a hobby. :o

Do you loom over her with a loaded brush, saying 'Honest, you'll love it...would *I* make you look stupid?' :D

I like their version of touche eclat, and brow gel, and the pink creamy tube blusher that i tried of millymolly's the other day.

umm, and huls - their bronzer (lasts for ages but the brush is shit), and I bought some doctor feelgood, and i like using it but i can't tell if it has any effect.

I want some she-lac next.

none at all, just moisturiser... I think make up is bad for my skin, or any skin for that matter.

I do wear make up if I'm going out though, foundation, eye-shadow and something on my lips. No mascara though, but I wear glasses, kinda pointless.

I've only just worked out blending. Like properly. :) I spent years on buses to school applying thick bright blue eyeliner and then bright blue mascara, but applied to the top of my lashes as I have straight eyelashes. I'd end up with blue fuzzy vision. :D

Depends what your glasses are like - but a lot of frames hide your lashes - and if your lashes are long, then you get mascara marks on the lenses - well I do :D

ah, i went from frameless to top frames but as i have very fair colourings i need a bit of mascara to define my lashes. never had them smearing on my glasses - maybe i wear my glasses further down my nose?

why is it pointless? i wear both

On the rare occasions I wore mascara in my life I ended up with smudged eyes: it just irritated my eyes and I ended up itching them...

And yes, like Biddly said, my frames do hide my eyelashes.

On a work day fuck all

On a weekend/wearing contact lenses or if I'm going out then I wear loads :D

Concealer, tinted moisturiser, foundation powder, bronzer, eyeliner, highlighter, eyeshadow, mascara, lipliner, gloss/lipstick.

I have bad skin and when I wear contacts I need something to OPEN my eyes up.

That's my excuse ;)

non work day, bugger all usually

workday, bit of touche eclat, bit of mascara off i go

day/night out, lots more

I don't, as a general rule.

I used to refuse to leave the house without at the very least eyeliner, mascara and powder. Preferably there would be foundation in the mix too.

Then one day I realised I was a prick and stopped wearing it altogether :)

I will ocassionally now use a little bit of eyeliner. Maybe some sparkly eyeshadow. But it's very rare. Like 4 times a year. Maybe. If that.

Life's too short!

Funny how things change.
I was always heavily into make up but then a year or so ago (I don't know, no concept of time really) I stopped wearing it. Mascara was about all if I could be bothered with that. I stopped dying my hair as well. I'm back on the make up and hair dye now though. Doesn't really matter if I'm going out or not. If I'm well enough I'll put some on. It's a mindless activity that I can do lying down. :D
