old unmaintained cars are not great to drive or safe...
too much by way of breakdowns and no brakes iygwim...
well maintianed old car or classic cars are a joy to drive, sure they are noisier on the interior they don't have aircon electric windows and in some case fag lighters or steros however they can be thrown into courners and come out the other side just as well as any other car.
My guess if your boyfriend A) doesn't like cars B) can't really drive them very well...

considering that torsion bar suspension that it uses is still of the same basic design as formula 1 cars of today and the dedion rear axel and running gear are still used in the latest Carterhams...
