What kind of shoes do I buy for this dress?

I think I'm veering on Black Open Toe (but alsmost sandal like) Slingbacks Stiletto's . I think that it might look a bit tarty with simple straps. It's quite revealing (eek).
i likes fuck-me shoes :) :p

OH my god that tart aisleyne from Big Brother is wearing my dress .

:D and there were you trying to steer clear of the Nuts look.

sorry :o

I'm sure it'll look better on you

late to this, but high and strappy, yes.

if you are going for black (and I'm with beeboo on that, really) then the thinner the straps the better.

Personally, I'd go for strappy silver, or even strappy gold (pale gold will make your legs look longest - assuming you're white.)

whooo, spangles is on my side :D and spangles is *always* right on sartorial issues

These :)

Oh yes those turquoise ones are great!

Not sure they say "Bond Girl" though.

Personally (although I'm not seeing much support for red with red) I like these:

Colour looks one shade darker (which I think is a good thing), contrasting fabric. And then no other accessories and make-up hair on the natural side, to keep it a little toned down.

Sorry, I meant them in black :D

The ones you like are nice but being brought up by an anal wannabe middle class father has left me with a dislike of red shoes. I just couldn't wear them.

I'd guess 90% of my footwear is black :o

I like those, beeboo.

But what I'm struggling with - are you planning to wear tights?

if so, what type.

As an almost absolute, for sophistication, you should match your shoes to your legs.

Long skirt/trousers = match shoes to skirt
Bare / fleshtone legs = naural leather / gold / silver at a push (assuming caucasian)
Black tights (sheer/fishnet) = Black shoes.

If you are wearing tights, obviosly you can't wear delicate strappy sandals.

Noooooooooooo! Not black shoes! Too hard red + black, too eighties.

Red shoes would be too hard to match.

You need to go down the metallics route, a pair of gold heels, preferably strappy or peep toe...

I thought you were having a fashion moment :D

Generally I don't like pillar box red shoes (or at least not heels - I've got bright red flats and trainers). Though I did have a pair that were blood-red snakeskin effect (much more subdued than that sounds) and I have totally worn them to death, they go with everything.

90% of my shoes aren't black. :D

You can get tights for sandals in a very fine denier, they're kind of toe-less, with a thong for between the big and second toes to keep them still. Obviously they don't work with very delicate strappy sandals, but they're an option...

The problem I'm having with metallics is that the dress is very shiny satin, and I feel like metallics might all look a bit too bling.

FFS, how many times have I posted on this thread?

yes... but not black ones. That'd look weird.

beeboo - not shiny metallic, dull metallic.

That'd work. :) I've got some strappy shoes which are a muted bronzey-silvery colour which I bought specifically as a "go with anything" shoe.

Hoorah! I bought a pair of black shoes yesterday.

They are kind of like those nice ones with the lace that have been posted - only without the lace.

I actually prefer the ones posted but I can't have everything.

They were from principles and £55.

I don't know whether to wear tights or not. Mainly cos I hate tights but especially black ones. I hate the fell of them on my skin. creepy.

I will try to find a picture of them.

I've got them and they're surprisingly comfy for the height.

I have pics of me in my dress and shoes if anyone is interested. Unfortunaley this is the only one I have full length of everything:

And this one you can see the accessoires in my hair (just about):

You look hot!

Good call on the red dress - everyone else is in black.

Did any of the women come as a recognizable Bond Girl?

At least you bothered to wear shoes, unlike that girl on the right :D

You look a hell of a lot better than that Ashleine bird.

I'll conceed that you'd have had a difficulty finding red shoes to match that, but I'd still have gone with silvery shoes intstead. But I guess the black ones look alright

Yeah OK you look lovely

nope! :D

There was one girl who had gone proper 70's stule with white flares and backless gold chainmail, and LOADS of glitter. But being 17 she could pull it off.

Is till think it would have been better had the other half gone as Blofeld and I could have gone as the cat.

But considering that no one else went proper fancied up - I call it a lucky escape.
