What kind of idiot builds a fucking house like this?

I remember back in the days when I lived with my ma and pa, The roof overhung the house by a fair bit. Thus, the gutters were about 6-12 inches away from the window ledges.

This house that I'm renting with my mrs? well, the gutters are directly over the fucking window ledges.

Guess whose gutters are leaking?

Guess who has to listen to a constant (and very loud)

It's a very temporary solution, but put a towel out where the drip falls. I had to do this in a hotel in Prague once, for a week, and it worked all right.

I did that a couple of times - not easy though as it's upstairs bedroom that's the main problem, and the drip falls near the hinge of the opening window (and of course the window opens outwards). Had to wedge a towel into the top of the window... But of course when it stops raining and the sun comes out, you have to open the window...

I wish I could reach the gutter with my hands so I could just duck tape the bit that's leaking. But, unfortunately, it's far too high above the window

I also had a similar problem in the only house I've ever owned, but we never had to deal with it as we split up as soon as it was discovered...

I've tried to ignore it. I can't. It keeps me awake at night. It wakes me up in the middle of the night and stops me from getting back to sleep. The only solution is to get very drunk every night (or use the towel method)
