what is your definition of 'God'?

My definition of 'God' is that he/she is whatever you believe he/she to be.

Where did you nick that concept from? Humpty fucking Dumpty?

My definition of idiot is some one who thinks that things are whatever you want them to be.

God could be defined as what produces and maintains the natural organisation of the universe and what no theory of the fiorces alone could ever explain.

This is a pile of crap.

What needs maintaining exactly?

Bang-up job he's doing in the fucking Lebanon right now . .

on the subject of free-will versus determinism or fate, obviously it is a very tricky business. as Kyser says, there are clearly causes and effects leading to an outcome. however, I would also posit that there are individual decisions that can affect the outcome of events. so I would guess that life is a mixture of both fate/determinism and personal choice.

"the universe is vast, but it can turn on a pinhead" no idea who I am quoting there...

I don't see either determinism or free will as being exclusive of a Creator, incidently...

This god maintains all the matter around you including your own body, which the experimental evidence shows consists almost all of the space betwen its subatomic parts, and while a hugely powerful force acts between these parts so as to attract or repel them.

Such a god is just a form conserving cause and so does not intervene in the world but rather, it awaits its own discovery by human beings.

I maintain the matter around me by paying rent and council tax, and maintain my body with pies.

What are you blithering on about?

Eddie Izzard Voice:
Ooooh, the weather can't be explained... only God can have made this possible... the miracle of the weather... we must worship God... maker of weather....

Other Eddie Izzard Voice:
What on earth are you talking about. We've understood the weather for years.

First Eddie Izzard Voice:
(after a pause)
Ooooooh we some other thing that can't be explained then.... ooooooh... errr...

errr....

OOOooooh!!! I've got it, the spaces between molecules then. They can't be explained... only God can have made this possible... the miracle of the spaces between molecules... we must worship God... maker of weth' - I mean the spaces betweem molecules...

why does the concept of an Ultimate Being who is entirely loving, indeed, who IS love, make you wish to be sick?

would you be happier with the concept of a God who is full of hatred and condemnation make you feel more comfortable? that is certainly not my experience of The MAGNIFICENT Creator of All...
Such a god is just a form conserving cause and so does not intervene in the world but rather, it awaits its own discovery by human beings.
quite. God yearns for discovery by humans, as S/He loves us dearly, as the love for a child by it's mother, only magnified a thousand-fold... truly, God is Great!

God is love?

He's got a funny fucking way of showing it.

God years for discovery by humans?

Really. Like he couldn't just go on the Jeremy Kyle show?

I'd be happier if you cretinous lil children grew the fuck up and put away your fairy tales.

There is no god, there is no purpose to life, or the universe, and it's up to us to create some.

happier? would you? or would you just find another group of people to express your ire at? it seems to me that your happiness involves firing abuse at various opinions. does this make you happy?

there is a God, a wonderful, beautiful, magnificent God; there is a purpose to life, and the universe (though I don't claim to fully grasp it) and it is up to us to find our own purpose within the Divine scheme:) peace.

Cobblers.

god is the space between bangleberries, the dog shit that refuses to move from the grooves in your shoe, the "lil secret" between a priest and a child.

The only excuse he could possibly offer would be his non existance.

Or the square root?

or at least something you actually believe in!

If a person believes in an omnipotent thing, shouldnt that belief fill those empty spaces, the questions that demand to be answered?

Most of the time, God or the desire to be special, fills the area of someones existence with the self importance of not having to address their failings.

forgiveness, fucking cop out.
