What is Screamo?

I only have one - early - single, which was emo-ish. Did they go a bit pop-punk after?

From what I remember, it's a bit sort of grunge/pop-punkish - I guess it's probably quite 90s Emo, really.

I also remember it not being a particularly good record...

I've got the EP too somewhere, which I think is harder (more "hardcore Emo").

exactly. proper emo - which is excellent - is probably more like 'screamo' (dumb fucking term) than the crap that's been masquerading as emo for ages. So although I've not heard much screamo, i suspect it's pretty good

but i think the only close ties a proper hardcore band would have with screamo is the constant dissing (read hatred)

Not sure Napalm Death were, really. Bit early, bit fast. Probably most of the rest of the Earache roster though

Definitely worth checking out "Born Innocent" by Red Kross and "Generic" by Flipper.

Or Angry Samoans, TSOL, the Misfits, MDC, Minor Threat, Circle Jerks, the Germs, Suicidal Tendancies, D.O.A...
