What is it with all this "pan fried" meat/fish/whatever?

But deep friend stuff is still fried in a pan. Just a deep one.

If they mean "shallow fried", they should say that.

Not sure if this has been said, but surely it's as opposed to deep fried.

but IME people generally *say* deep fried if something has been deep fried as opposed to just fried. if a recipe calls for something to be deep fried it will specify that.

"pan fried" is just ponceyness.
 
I'm going to stop arguing with dodgepot and the ed about Morrissey and have a go at danny's lack of pan knowledge now.

It's been a fine day for intellectual pursuits on U75 today. :cool:

Quite. And if the recipe is really worried about confusion, 'shallow fried' will do the job.
