What have you done with your time so far?

Its because he does what those other programmes do, fix your garden to a design for x million pounds,
zero interest - this isn't gardening, it's shopping.
And categorically NOT what my eldest does.

apols, PlanetGeli - I am coming across like a miserable cynic here, (which, tbf, I am) but thank you for bothering to reply to my grumpy posts. (lurches off to greenhouse)

Haha, no worries, I was starting to wonder because I was only explaining it to you. Absolutely no worries though. And I do know what you mean about those programmes being 'shopping'.

  • I’ve started a lot of things. I’m variously working through four MOOCS - I even had to write a micro-essay for one of them.
  • I’ve watched a couple of filmed plays (Funny Girl &Endgame) and a metric tonne of Netflix (rewatched all of parks & rec; tiger king; ozark; lie to me...)
  • I’ve written an article (just on Medium) and am planning another.
  • I’ve been setting and marking student work, and doing hundreds of emails back and forth to check on student welfare etc
I’ve also been making regular iPlayer recommendations for my filmmaking club.
  • I held a lockdown karaoke event via zoom
  • I’ve washed quite a lot of laundry
  • I’ve secured groceries every week
  • I have begun the process of opening a bank account for my “off the grid” partner (with his grudging consent).
  • I have written an adaptation of an old English folk tale, which I am illustrating and will eventually record, Jackanory style.

I've been out for a walk along the prom at the crack of sparrowfart. It's very lovely indeed.
I've done shopping for me and for my parents and for the old lady who lives next door to me and for the old man who lives over the road from my Mum and Dad.
I have watched too much telly.
I have sat in the garden and read books
I have sat in the kitchen and watched the (other) next doors kids bouncing about on their trampoline in their back yard. One of the kids is big enough that I can see her face when she bounces up and down and she waves enthusiastically at me. But the other two are too small to be able to bounce high enough. So they just shout HELLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! at what I presume is the highest part of their bounce. :D Amuses me and them too, judging by the giggling. Aces.

I've mostly been telling myself not to get sucked back into the mindset that I should be being creative with all this spare time. It only ever makes me feel stressed and anxious, so my brain going, "Write some music! Write a book! It will make you fulfilled and energised!" isn't really helping at all. Trying to focus on playing videogames and watching Netflix instead.

Is this a thread for saying fuck you to pressure and showing it's ok not to have done that much, or one in which we list what we have achieved? I thought the former, from the OP, but there seems to be a mixture of both.

How shit should I be feeling, on this thread? :D

Highlighted my roots.
Worked far more than my part-time hours.
Argued with people here just out of boredom.
Dragged reluctant children on grumpy walks.
Wondered whether it was time to make dinner yet for hours.
Books are unread, pages are unwritten, the hallway still needs decorating, my children aren't spending their days captivated by my inspirational company for some reason and even now, it's STILL not time to make dinner yet.

Attempted to make meringues with chick pea water. They were shit. I don't need to say they were inedible, as the photo below amply demonstrates that:

I was going to try that - saw it here:
should i not bother?

You cannot overestimate the time aqua faba needs whisking, compared to egg whites. Luckily the recipe I used said 15 to 20 minutes, which was a realistic estimate, and even after that it didn't peak quite as much as egg. I think I put the sugar in too quickly.

At least mine didn't resemble a tray full of tits and turds, unlike the smug fucker in the Guardian.

Did you do it by hand or mechanically?

it all works, pick what ya fancy, do one of each

:D Mechanically (a quite feisty hand whisk). Again The Guardian didn't mention this, but apparently you need a powerful whisk - a hand whisk won't do it. Some recipes mention sodium bicarb.

My mum used to make meringue by using a carving knife on a plate. I don't think that would do it either, although TBH when we'd been kids we'd have thought my mum had lost her marbles if she'd been attempting to make meringues from chick pea water.

Done nothing of note. Get up at 9, 90 minutes of schooling for BB2, 90 minutes walk with dog and family, lunch, lounge about a bit, lounge about a bit more, booze. The time flies by, really don’t know how I ever managed to squeeze 9 hours a day at work in to my life for so long.
Might tidy the garage. Next week.

I'm typing mine up cos frankly I can't believe I've found the motivation to do it all and when I have a shitty time of not being able to do f'all I want to read that I can do it sometimes. Add power washing some of the back garden paving to the list today and remembering to sweep it first so I didn't get too mucky. I only wish I had decking or wooden furniture cos it's super satisfying revealing the wood again. More tomorrow. Didn't do it all today cos trigger finger.
