What have the Brits ever done for Ireland?

So there's your answer.
What have the Brits ever done for Ireland?
A north/south divide.

What have the Scottish ever done for Ireland?

Don't forget that most of the settlers were YOUR fellow country men from SCOTLAND who displaced the indegenous Irish!

It was SCOTTISH PEOPLE like YOU Dozyboy who played such an important part in sowing the seeds of the conflict.

Maybe that is why you so desperatly want to be a wanna-be Irish republican now - even though you're fucking SCOTTISH and live in safe comfy LANARKSHIRE in SCOTLAND!

lol
:D

Well fanta I'll think you'll find most socialist republicans (not sure if that includes Dilzybhoy) don't actually 'blame' the English working class for the sins of their rulers' empire. It's a matter of class as well as nation. So the Scottish boot boys who did the dirty work for an empire run by an English (and some Scots and even heaven forbid some Irish) elite aren't the problem.

It does indeed include me.
As for Fanta's assertion that I'm Scottish.
If being Scottish means living here then I s'pose I am. I don't really care.
Fanta obviously puts more weight on Nationalism than class.

Oh and LOL :D

can i just state for the record that republicanism is a smug sectarian ideology which offers no hope of ever deconstructing sectarianism or promoting working class advancement.

And secondly any arm chair republicans from outside of the north are not worth entering into discussion with. At least republicans in the north are understandable.

If thats true, its nice to see you can find some common ground with him.
As scotland takes its name from evil irish imperialist colonists, its all a case off what goes around comes around.Or at least by your logic.

smug only in that he told me he would come back and demolish my post, im still waiting.

Republicanism is smug in that it sees those people who don't embrace it as somehow being dupes of British imperialsim/ fascists.

Well seeing as the orange statlet is playing england.

cmon you nordies!
No no man, haven't you seen SW's headline from '69: to paraphrase, with the Brit state sometimes, with the Orange mob never ;)

Nope, tonight for me it's 'Ingurland, Ingurland!' :)

After all, that shower of pricks will be singing the same songs as the english fans, only louder and with nastier lyrics. Mind you it won't stop the english commentators saying 'the Irish' every five minutes.

Edited for honesty. If I was in Dublin I'd be taking a stand against gombeen nationalism and the vaunted success of the 'Celtic Tiger' by supporting the French. But I'm not so I won't, I'll be stood in an Irish/Tim pub in Swindon singing the Fields and pretending we have a chance :)

Dizzy McHaggis! :)

Slugger points out that Freestaters remain the largest group of people born abroad living in GB. This doesn't surprise me at all; English cities are jammed packed with escapees from Eire.

I'm sure I've asked you to refrain from fucking with my username britvic.
Anyone else can, but you must not.

FAQ is quite clear about the sanctity of the username.

Did you get that from your bedroom wall Dizzy?

Och-aye-the-noo, etc etc.

Dunnie get ye sporrin in a twist!!!

He may have got it off his wall our Dilzy's an Ulster Scot an all that. Seen a few St Andrews Cross flying in Pettigo over the years.
