What hair straighteners have you got?

You must have magic hair then:p

Daily ironing does (usually) dry it out, GHD's are better than most though, or so I've heard. Haven't used other straightners except some shit ones about 10 years ago! :o

I straighten my hair every day and it doesn't dry it out. My hair feels like it's in much better condition since I started straightening it although I'm not sure if it actually is, or it's just an illusion.

I don't use GHDs either, just some cheapish ones.

everyone seems to use straighteners - even people like me with straight hair.

What would it achieve, were I to bother?

Don't do it you'll become addicted. :D

My hair was a bit crap before actually - I had to spend ages drying it to get it straight, and it frizzed up at the slightest sign of any moisture in the air.

If hair straighteners had been invented when I was in my teens and 20s I wouldn't have had it short for so long.

I'm not sure what colour hair Rapunzel had, but I'll take your word for it! :D

Is it possible to straighten your hair without the ironed look, ifyswim. I have stupid growing-out-the-layers, wavy hair at the moment which looks alright the day I wash it but crap the next day. I have some GHDs but I don't really like the poker straight thing, plus they seem to make my hair less shiny and silky and a bit straw-like. I'm doing something wrong, aren't I? :(

I use my GHD's everyday too.

A nice shampoo and conditioner and a serum before using them , its all fine.

Still getting on great with my satinliners. I think the gloop thing is universal. If you don't wipe down the plates (when cool, of course!) bits of whatever products you've got on your hair will transfer on them and build up over time. My satinliners are a lot easier to clean than my travel Remmingtons I had previously.

I wash my hair once every couple of days, and only really need to properly straighten straight after washing. The next day I will run the straighteners through my hair, but only to get rid of bedhead. My hair is naturally extremely coarse and wiry, so it wants to stand on end and stick out at strange angles – me when I wake up = scary.

You can define the layers by flicking the ghd's at the end of the strand - kind of twisting it in the direction you want it to go - or alternatively you can add a few curls by taking the strand of hair between the straighter's blades at the top, turning the straighters over and then running them down the length of hair. That made no sense at all did it?

I flick mine out. I have a very choppy layered bob type thing, and it looks very, very textured because of the flickage.

Sod it – I'm going to continue using them daily. The GHDs are so good that I only have to use them for a second or two to get the desired effect and I've got so much hair that it won't matter if I lose a few strands :)

I don't usually do mine poker straight (unless I feel like a change) - my hair is in a bob, and I use them to maintain the shape of the cut.

GHD for me. I've just started to use the GHD iron oil which is better if sprayed on the brush rather than on the hair.

I had a go at curling with them and it wasn't too bad. Though, I'm sure my earlobe will heal soon. :(
