What hair straighteners have you got?

Could you check what they're called? Can't find anything called Satinliners.
I've got them right here... and they're called satinliners. Bollocks, they're not Babyliss, they're Braun.

I don't support Cancer Research so I wouldn't buy those.

I ended up getting some cheap Vidal Sassoon ones off eBay, they should be OK as my hair is mostly straight anyway.

I now have four pairs of hair straighteners :o

I think GHD might be the same as CHI brand here in Canada (???).*
Their pictures look really similar?

Anyway, I have a CHI iron and it's pretty good!

*nope. similliar looking models it seems.

I'm about to order the Braun Satinliner ones from Amazon - they've got them at 50% off (only £34.99). They're getting great reviews, and I'm not about to spend out over a hundred quid on straighteners when I'm positive the difference is negligable.

My straighteners still work, but the plates are looking worse for wear, and I want to minimise the damage to my hair if at all possible. I have to straighten my hair all the time now since I've cut it quite short (curly on me at the moment looks atrocious :o ).

I'll report back once I've used them :)

The teenager and I have that "have you turned the straighteners off" conversation every time we leave the house. Especially after we read in her magazine about a girl who was on holiday, left her straighteners on the hotel bed, went to the disco and the room set on fire.

I've also been known to come back and check they are off. :)

There is nothing that annoys my bloke more. We get half way down the road and I utter those words 'Did I turn my straighteners off??' I can't help it, I'm convined the house will burn down!

I've got some babyliss ones, they're fine

The Braun Satinliners are aces

I slept in by accident this morning, and had but half an hour to do my entire morning ritual, that included straightening my hair from it's natural wiry pubic state.

It took less than 10 minutes  Whereas it used to take a good 20 or more.

And, what's more, the ends of my hair still feel soft, not dry or prickly like they sometimes can feel later on in the day.

And there isn't even one bit of frizz or static. No halo of bits that are too short to fit in my pigtails or anything

I loves them.

I'm going to give the satinliners on Amazon a whirl then - thanks urbanites!!
(Just for what it's worth be wary of babyliss glass plate straighteners - mine just get dried up gloop from any serum etc on them - it seems to stick to them!)

I hope they work for you too :)

i use some toni & guy ones and they seem ok to me (but im a boy)

miss marsbar laughs at me for using them though...yet she likes my hair when i do

can't win either way :D

I have a Chi and absolutely love it. They're a bit expensive, but I say worth it. I got it for Christmas last year and probably wouldn't have bought one for myself. I'm happy that I got it though, and if this one ever breaks I'll buy another. It doesn't take me long at all to use it, and I do everyday. I get comments on how healthy my hair is/looks by everyone. My favorite part is how smoothly it goes over my hair compared to others I've had; I really notice it when I use someone else's now.

I got some GHDs last month, and I'm beginning to see why people get so evangelical about them

But I've heard you shouldn't use them more than three times a week – anyone know if this is true? As much as I hate my frizz, it's better than no hair at all. I really want to to use them every day, but wonder if I'm causing any long-term damage.

Do you wash your hair every day? I find that after using my GHDs my hair stays straight the next day anyway.

I have to wash it every day, unfortunately – it's unbelievably thick and soaks up grime very quickly :(

I've grown it into a bob, but it's already high-maintenance. I'm remembering why I kept it cropped for so many years...

I have a Vidal Sassoon one, it's easily as good as my GHD's, which I don't use now that the plates are scratched. These satin things sound interesting, my hair splits really easily and after a few sessions of straightening too close together it feels really dry and brittle, which is horrible when there's so much of it.

I'd say definately not worth it to be straightening every day because after a while your hair may look crap because of damamge and not be able to be remedied by the straightening anymore anyway

i've been ghding me hair at least dailing for ooo maybe six years... exactly the same as when i first started :)

You must have magic hair then:p

Daily ironing does (usually) dry it out, GHD's are better than most though, or so I've heard. Haven't used other straightners except some shit ones about 10 years ago! :o

everyone seems to use straighteners - even people like me with straight hair.

What would it achieve, were I to bother?
