They Live. (Again - a great idea for a film. A big budget version could be amazing........ Some may agrue that The Matrix has already done it thou...)

Oh come ooooon! The original was brilliant! Good old Johnny Carpenter :D

but im confused tonight

and dont know what im talking about when it comes to all this ;)

well whatever the poncy word is you got the wrong movie ghost in the shell is the main influence on matrix from feel right down to the way people jump

akira has a totally diffrent feel though perhaps a slight simular feel of future dystopia

It's just a poncy word for Japanese cartoons

But it is the word for Japanese cartoons.

I wouldn't say it was poncey anyway, I'm totally embarrassed to mention it.

Ghost in the shell was made by fuckweasels, no wonder it's a bunch of fanny!

It's still poncey - why should Japanese cartoons get a special word whilst cartoons from other countries don't?
It's just a word that studiotanned milksops use to give gravitas to their penchant for wanking themselves dry to badly drawn moonfaced bigeyed nypmhets dressed like cats.

No it isn't, I don't think anime gives it any more gravitas. In fact I tend to say Japanese animation myself because I feel a bit silly saying anime.

And actually cartoons from all over the world do have other names but because we mostly only get American cartoons that's all we know about. Most of Europe was dominated by Japanese animation in the late 70's and 80's. The style was obviously different form western animation a distinction was made in fact in France home grown Japanese style cartoons are 'anime'.
It's like film noir but not so cool.
Kids don't know or care where cartoons come from and talk about the style. Isn't there a word for the new wave of American kid cartoons like Dexter, power puff etc?

Judge Dredd. (Great idea for a film. Just need to find someone who can keep his helmet on. And lose the whole 'epic-scope' thing. Whats needed is a film thats just an average day-in-the-life of Mega Citys One Premier Judge. Would be really cool....)

Yep. And also it would actually have to grasp the fact that the comics were tongue in cheek.

Tank Girl. With swearing and gratuitous nudity, just like the comic. All in a knowing, ironic style, natch.

Terminator 3. Two hours of future large-scale human vs. robot armageddon please. No irony this time. And no terminatrix.

There's been loads of films that have been remade (and are planned to be remade) when there has been no need. (i.e. The Wickerman, Get Carter, etc)

But films would you love to see being remade? Films that could do with some better special effects, bigger budget? Films with a great idea that just didnt come across the first time round?

My nominations:

Judge Dredd. (Great idea for a film. Just need to find someone who can keep his helmet on. And lose the whole 'epic-scope' thing. Whats needed is a film thats just an average day-in-the-life of Mega Citys One Premier Judge. Would be really cool....)

Rather an astute forecast.

A remake of Lord of the Rings without all the really shit music, especially the twee faux Irish music that happens every time a hobbit is on screen (I haven't seen The Hobbit yet but I'm betting it's just as bad).
