I stick to it 100% " A Liberal is somebody who believes that a benevolent minority should rule in the interests of the majority"

You clearly don't know what the word "liberal" means and use it as a pejorative when it suits (look that word up, because I know you don't understand it).

That description covers all types of government except ultra-libertarian.

We should be for the maximum freedom of all in a society based on workers' power where the working class run our own affairs and lives- based on a sytem of equality and freedom including rights for minorities.
So you want maximum freedom for everyone but the working class in power?.

And what makes you think they will act in the best interests of everyone once they get in power?.

"Is not a man entitled to the sweat of his brow?
'No!' says the man from washington, it belongs to the poor!
'No!' says the man from the Kremlin, it belongs to everyone!
'No!' says the man from the vatican, it belongs to GOD!"

You see, you're confusing class and identity politics here - there would be no 'minorities' in such a state because everyone would be w/c; any other labels are irrelevant since they have no bearing on the relationship between the person and capital.

And when everyone is of one class, the class label is anyway irrelevant and the term 'people' would be more appropriate.

But I realise one must stick to the approved terminology of the cult :p

TBH I find the con-fusion of identity and class politics to be more than I can stand. Attica should be informed of these confused politics...:D

The thread asks what does Liberal mean to you?
Did you not notice that?

I've noticed that your 'definition' of liberal doesn't go beyond its use as a pejorative. In which case, you're talking out of your (no doubt) ample backside again.

Am I the only one saddened that this potentially interesting thread is, like so many before, being derailed by pointless mouthy insults rather than considered replies?

Isn't it funny how a certain poster on this thread has made the claim that this [potentially interesting] thread has been "ruined" by an unnamed poster?
