What do you have on your chips?

Normally salt and vinegar, but I really love curry sauce. It's just that my tummy can't take that all the time.

I ask for 'a little bit of salt and LOADS of vinegar please'. The guy at my local chippie (who makes the best chips) said he was going to start charging me more for vinegar.

I even put more vinegar on when I get home..

The above is only on chip shop chips...on other chips such as fries I like a healthy soaking of mayo, ketchup or bbq sauce. On potato wedges i have sour cream.

I see. I like Sesame seeds on bread/toast so might give it a go.

I can get (Chinese) tahini easily here so I might have to try a chinese vinegar-tahini-soy sauce combo next time we make chips . A similar combo goes on my favourite chinese noodles so it's probably teh delicious.

No-one has mentioned this but my Dutch flat-mate used to have apple sauce on his chips. Apparently this is normal in Dutchland. He preferred french fries to our chunky chip shop type. Maybe it was an influence from Indonesia like the riestaffle (rice table) restaurants. Must try the tahini and mango chutney idea - esp if I've got HOT mango chutney.

What sauce I have depends on what I am eating with the chips. Chip shop chips on their own then I have curry sauce but if I have fishcake or something then ketchup.

Homemade or oven chips then mayo and ketchup.
