Obviously.

Dishcloth and a minky scoury pad thing......there is a brush too but only my sons uses it !

Dishwasher for most things, sponge with a plastic brillo pad type bit on the other side for what's left or when it's so few that it's not worth turning the bloody thing on.

*looks at poll results*
And I thought we were behind the curve on getting a dishwasher only a couple years back.

Has BiddlyBee been suitably reprimanded yet? Have appropriately harsh sanctions been enacted? You can never find a tyrannical mod when you need one....

I tend to use a scouring sponge thing - a sponge with either metal or plastic scoury bits all the way around it, not just on the top like the one demonstrated earlier.

Occasionally I'll break out the long handled brush for a frying pan or something, but they don't really need washing all that often.

Top thread, by the way :thumbs up:

My brother has got a new kitchen with a dishwasher in it.

His pint-glasses are now cloudy and the pictures are coming off them, and off the mugs

Dishwashers are still shit.

Poll fail. Needs to be multiple choice.

For plates & mugs and such I use a green sponge/foam thingy with a green brillo pad on one side, I usually use the rough side as it cuts through the crud nicely.

For cutlery I use a round ended brush.

Oh, and Fairy liquid.

Everything that can go in the dishwasher, does. Because I'm idle. I wash stuff that either can't, or is delicate/expensive by hand, but that is a minority - my purchasing decisions are driven by the 'will it go in the dishwasher?' question. Frankly the only criteria that matters. :)

What about the "Is it microwave safe?" question?

Microwave is bust, so doesn't matter at the moment. But most non-metallic things will go in OK, although I did laugh at a new ceramic teapot I bought a while back that said it was microwaveable. What type of weirdo would put a teapot into a microwave?

People do microwave tea, tbf. To re-heat it. It's rank if you do it after the milk has gone in, so a forgotten teapot full seems fair enough.

Surely you just make a fresh pot, or buy a flask if you keep forgetting that there's a hot pot of tea sat there. There are some strange people in this world.

I dunno. It's possible though.

I've microwaved a forgotten mug at work many times.

Anyway, I would remind you to keep it on topic or fuck off, but that's not allowed.

I have a washing up bowl.

It sits there all day, full of dirty water, caked in an unidentifiable scummy residue.

I like it that way.

Six & a half years later and nothing's changed. Still no dishwasher, still just a permanently scummy washing up bowl.

In fact, I'm pretty sure it's still the same washing up bowl.

Sponge with brillo pad type thing on the other end and it has to be classic dark green Fairy liquid. No other brands and no other colours. We've got yellow Fairy liquid at the moment that my fella bought. It makes me cross every time I see it standing on the windowsill

But does it still contain the original dirty water, or have you changed that at some point over the past few years? :hmm:
