I've always said living room.
Both my nans' had a living room at the back and a 'front room' (which was like a living room, only tidier on account of it never being used )

I'm sure that one of my nan's used to call her living room 'the parlour'

'The lounge' would be the room in the pub with comfy seats :D

the living room.

I always thought front rooms were in these corrie style houses where you had the kitchen, a room off the kitchen with a kitchen table and maybe a couch and a tv, where you spent all your time, and then a room at the front that was kept tidy and no one went in unless the vicar came to visit.. :)

I only have two rooms downstairs - the front room and the kitchen. Although they are barely two seperate rooms as I can sit here (in the kitchen) on the computer and watch the TV, which is in the front room!

that's what happens when you modernise! Double aspect. :)

We call it the living room. Regardless of where it is.

My Nana and Aunty - their 'front room' is at the back of the house and is reserved for special people (or used to be). Not sure what they called the living room at the front of the house, probably the living room.
