What do I wear to an AGM?

When I went to AGMs I always wore a suit and tie. However, in your position I'd go for a suit without a tie, but I'd have one in my poscket so that if the majority of the people were wearing ties I could slip mine on. Also if the majority were in shirts and smart trousers I could slip off the suit jacket and still meet the overall dress code. Always go for smarter rather than more casual for the first time.

And don't drink too much! If the food is finger food, don't over-load your plate, you can always go round again. (and again)

Solid advice, I think this one was just so casual because it was a third sector thing.

Funny thing was that there was no alcohol. Networking over drinks literally involved orange juice and sparkling water in champagne glasses. It's an addiction recovery org so that makes sense. I was too nervous to eat the food but took some anyway out of politeness and forced a little down.

Networking gets easier, and no-one likes it.
