What do I need a computer for nowadays?

How big is the ipod classic? 128gb memory cards aren't that expensive now and will hold a fair bit unless you want to start storing it all as FLAC.
Mine's 160GB. But nowhere near full.

I use it when on holiday, and in the car (plumbed in via a jack cable). Occasionally when out walking. Pretty much the way I used my Walkman in the olden days. Not to replace my home stereo, but as a mobile supplement to it. (But even then I had tapes for the car, and now I have CDs).

If you rely on streaming for music on the move, how does that work if you're away from wifi or 4G? It's only gprs where I live.

I'm the opposite of the OP I think, in that I can't understand why anyone needs a computer with no keyboard or a 'mobile' phone that doesn't fit in your pocket and can't go more than 200 feet from a usb port without dying.

You can now mod them with much bigger drives. Depending on the model it may or may not still get recognised by iTunes, if not, then you use some 3rd party firmware and ditch iTunes.

I've only just stopped using my iPod classic and only just, finally, years after signing up started really using Spotify.

However, at the same time I've started playing vinyl again.
