mmmmm

Argh I want to go to Damn again now.

Thats Spain, The US, Iceland, Denmark, Japan, Estonia and now Holland again that I want to go to and i can't decide which I want to do.

Did the galleries and museums and got stoned, then did it again and again until the fifth or sixth time when I was bored and then we went shopping in an Indonesian supermarket.

If it's sunny get a picnic (or go to the pancake house there) and go to Amsterdam Bos - tram or bike it's not too far from the West exit of Vondelpark down Amstelveenseweg. Big tree and grassland place.

I really love the antique market round the back of the Leidsplein. I'm not sure, but I think that was where we bought our bust of Jesus on our honeymoon, and I shit myself going through security in case they thought we were smuggling drugs out, and wanted to smash it up to check.

They didn't :)

There are some good squat cafes in 'Dam.

My husband would say "go to the floating chinese restaurant and have won ton soup" because we went there once and I ordered won ton soup and when it turned up I was like "wtf?" and he had to swap his soup for mine :o He hasn't forgot about it, eight years later.

Go to one of thos fast food places, where they sell chips from machines :D

Some good tips

Just had a friend over from Australia and took him to the following:

3 Vrienden restaurant in Frans Hals straat, 4 star cuisine at reasonable prices. A must for the gourmets among us.

Floating flower market on "De Singel" canal.

Begijnhof is a oasis of peacefulness in the centre.

Rondvaart boat through canals 1 hour €7.50 from P.Kooij at the "Rokin"
ask for the old fashioned boat with wicker chairs.

De Zeedijk a street near Centraal station full of interesting bars and good restaurants also incorporates the China Town.

Cheese market at Alkmaar, worth the train ride from Centraal station.

lost my friends in the picasso museum, then ran the camcorder battery down, filming the inside of the bag while I cycled in very wobbly circles for 45 minutes.

That is De Zeediijk, there is a chinese temple there. A great place on de zeedijk is the Barderij cafe with a fantastic view from its back room. The room is called De Kieteltuin, which means the tickling garden

I like the market at Waterlooplein, have been to Hortus Botanicus at least twice, the Soup shop near there(Suppen So??)
If they like theme parks nip down to Efteling for the day. We went to the Jewish museum and I intend to go to Resistance one at some time.

That chinese temple is a Buddhist temple btw, been there.

I saw a woman stick a banana where it shouldn't have been, in front of lots of people.

Don't get me started....
cigar *sudders*
smoke gets in your eyes *song ruined for life*
smoke rings *still amazed*

I believe in Bangkok that is what is advertised as "Pussy Smoke"! We were also invited to see "Pussy Banana" and the rather dangerous sounding but intriging "Pussy Razor Blade".

And to think all I came back with was a fake rolex. I could have had a whole new career:eek:

Back to the Dam if you want a little change of scene head to Harlaam - a short train journey away - where there is a beautiful town square and the Franz Hals Museum. Easily done in a morning.

Also Bagels and Beans is a fab chain of coffee shops - great for lunch

Thanks for that - sorry to get it wrong, spelling is not my strong point:o
Leiden (hope I've spelt it right!) is also really nice - were there last Summer for the Rembrandt 400 celebrations and had a fantastic day:)

I went to Amsterdam for three nights. First day, went out at night shortly after we arrived. Had our first spliff in a cafe and it knocked is all out it was so strong! Mate got mugged down a side alley. Put a bit of a downer on things. Second day, went on a canal boat ride. Apparently one car a week drives into the canals! Night got stoned. Third day got up at midday intending to go to some record shops (was into Dutch Trance at the time). Met my mates in the bar downstairs and had "one" spliff before I left. Unfortunately said bar had a DVD player, lots of DVDs and digital so Neighbours would be on. Only left hostel to buy a falafal wrap from takeaway next door. Final day, went to some record shops and got a flight back to Liverpool (where my dad was supposed to pick me up, but I hadn't given him his fucking "confirmation" call so we sat in John Lennon's for 2 hours while he drove over from Sheffield). The end

You obviously haven't been to the falafel place down old compton street.

You mean Maoz Falafel? Yes, that is superb (and there are several in Amsterdam) - and I should have said, it's the one obvious exception.

But generally, falafels in London are rubbish. They tend to be kept in the fridge and reheated, which means they just don't taste as good.
