What did G*d Do on the Eighth Day?

i've seen a cartoon (possibly gary larson, but i can't find it) with the traditional 'man with big white beard' figure, looking at the earth, caption something like 'drat, i've wasted six days on this. i'm taking tomorrow off. maybe i'll finish it sometime'

Whoever wrote in the 7-day claim into the Old Testament question must have been a manipulative pig seeking to perpetuate the exploitation of the populace. Imagine how much better conditions for the common man (and woman) might have been through history if the OT had been claimed God created everything and everyone in three days, then rested the following four.

As a matter of fact, it seems a pretty pisspoor effort for a supposedly omnipotent entity to require seven days to set up shop. Surely he could have done everything instantly at the clicking of his fingers. The fact that he did not when he could have can only mean God approves of work laziness and procrastination. Something to bear in mind for anyone whose boss happens to be a cunt and deeply religious.

Theology is opinion, though. It is not scripture. It does not state in the Bible that God is outside space and time. That is a claim that was invented hundreds of years after the death of Jesus.
If you create something, you change. God must have changed as he created. He could not remain the same.
The "claim" is fact revealed to the Church and to us via the Magisterium in the fullness of time after Christ's death

As far as your Sola Scriptura-like reliance on the Bible as the sole source of truth, well it doesn't say to do that in the Bible, either. Your agnosticism sounds very Protestant to me. You'd've made Cromwell proud...

How was this "truth" "revealed"?

There's lots of material available available on this. There are theological, logical and philosophical points of view

This is the AI response. Seems to make sense at first glance

God is understood to exist outside of space and time based on several theological and philosophical arguments.

1. Nature of God

  • God is often described as eternal and unchanging, which implies existence beyond the constraints of time.
  • Scriptures, such as Psalm 90:2, affirm that God is from everlasting to everlasting.
2. Philosophical Arguments

  • The concept of God as the necessary being suggests that God does not depend on anything else for existence, including time and space.
  • Classical philosophy, particularly in the works of thinkers like Augustine and Aquinas, supports the idea of God as transcendent.
3. Creation of Time and Space

  • The belief that God created the universe implies that He exists independently of it.
  • Genesis 1:1 states, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth," indicating that time began with creation.
4. Theological Consensus

  • Many Christian theologians agree that God’s nature is fundamentally different from the created order, which includes time and space.
  • This view is supported by the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which emphasizes God's transcendence.
These points collectively support the belief that God exists outside of the limitations of space and time.

I don't think I would if I believed in that, too many impure thoughts :(

For anyone who does believe, is it possible to correct this out of interest?
'Impure' thoughts are best replaced with love ime. Unwanted or intrusive thoughts likewise.
