i also voted in 4 categories because i wasn't sure :D

<runs>

I voted in multiple categories because my Degree had elements of philosophy, politics, history and english literature.

Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering with Energy Resource Engineering
MPhil in Mechanical Engineering (research into renal dialysis machines)
PhD in Mathematics (research into diabetic wound healing)

I voted 'you're all elitist bastards' or something along those lines.

Does it make any difference to your life having a degree?
Am I missing out on something?
Dont people with degrees stack shelves at tescos?

Mine is somewhere between Arts and Languages really but I voted for Arts because that's the faculty I was under. I have a BA (Hons) in English and Celtic, 1st class. It was mostly a language course but we did quite a bit of background cultural stuff in the Celtic part too.

I have never stacked shelves at Tescos but I did spend the first 4 years after graduating fixing pushbikes, and the remaining time since I've been fully occupied breeding :D

I don't know if it makes any difference or if you're missing out on something having not done it, but I really enjoyed finding out in depth and detail about a subject that really interested me. There's not too many other opportunities in life to do that (I think proper apprenticeships are one)

Well if they'd told me when I started my degree that my university was actually a glorified recruiting agency for PriceWaterhouse Coopers and HSBC then I probably wouldn't have fucking bothered finishing it

Still, I didn't do a degree to get a job, I just wanted to learn stuff. I've done that, now I hope to leave my degree discipline behind forever in favour of more entertaining pursuits and occasionally surprising people at social occasions by telling them I have a genetics degree :)

Can't have too many degrees :D

Oooh I wanna do a second bachelors degree in American Studies at some point

IIRC I applied to do American Studies purely on the basis of getting a year in the US. in the end though, if I hadn't been accepted at art college, i was going to do combined history and philosophy.

hmm.

Ba hons fashion (footwear and leather accessories specialist).

Sounds like I learned how to make S & M harnesses doesn't it? We did have a part time tutor who was very fond of showing us the leather basques and corsets she had designed (modelled by her husband).

that might have tempted me too:D

and i did, spent a year in champaign-urbana:)

Paulie: It wasn't a harness course at all - you can study to make harnesses (the horsey ones)and suitcases at Cordwainers in Hackney. We did feck all bags and belts - spent most of our time melting our brains learning to pattern cut width fittings for kids shoes. It was a good course though - more of an apprenticeship.
