The Scott Trust Mr Winjer - I trust from your 'rolleyes' you were implying it was independently owned. Incidentally, you may find this interesting with regard to the Trust. http://www.nuj.org.uk/inner.php?docid=226
I believe I was referring to general newspaper ownership in contrast to the PPPS. The Scott Trust may not be a transnational corporation, but is very much in business to make a profit from the production of newspapers with the consequent servility to advertisers etc. In the Tust's own words its objective is:
"To secure the financial and editorial independence of The Guardian in perpetuity: as a quality national newspaper without party affiliation; remaining faithful to liberal tradition; as a profit-seeking enterprise managed in an efficient and cost-effective manner."
Yeah, Ive noticed that. There is also a small corner shop in Nottingham that sells mostly Arabic newspapers but also sells the Morning Star.
Iv'e read it a few times over the past few years. Find it liberal lefty at best. More in favour of TU buracrats than workers struggle in general, I would call it Neo Stallinist. Though my opinons are of it are clouded by a hatred of statist obsessed "Communists".
