What daily newspaper is the most left wing?

The Guardian I feel represents my leftiness quite well. Walking past suits and ties with my Guardian under my arm, I can feel much loathing from them!
It's a pro-war shitrag.

Editorially both the grauniad and the indie parrot the neo-liberal consensus on economic issues most of the time. The indie has had more big environmental issues coverage of late, but this may be part of a marketing strategy ;)
As said in another thread, Guardian commentary and editorials on the situations in France and Germany have been despicable right wing bilge.
I feel, Monbiot and Younge aside, that the Guardian is much more prone to defend the Blairites than the Indie at the moment. Of course, any shifting of stance will be to prepare the way for the Brownites to (falsely) present their man as offering something radically different to his current neo-liberal boss.

The Morning Star is OK for finding out what is going on in news areas that are not covered so much by other papers, (except from a predictable reactionary stance). And Jerry Jones (their economics correspondent) is quite interesting.
But they do still apologise for bureaucrats and recently gave space to ETUC leader Monks to drivel on.

Private Eye. Edited by Ian Hislop.

You might want to consider picking up a copy of that as well to familiarise yourself with other print-based media.

And probably one of the best papers around.

Comedy really can hav ean edge in the struggle to expose this government, or indeed any state institution. Simpsons is simliar in many repsects, comedy can get away with far more as stupid high minds dismiss it.

Morning star? Didn't think that was doing so well now that East Germany (People's Democratic Blah Republic) stopped bossting the circulation by 200% or so. But I'd read it if it had a few articles you wouldn't get elsewhere, I'm not going to run away from a paper I disagree with, often more interesting to read those you disagree about.

That'll be because of the Racing coverage. (Horse Racing that is).

Well, really....if that's the best that that 'newspaper' can offer...gambling advice for sad old men...I'll stick to my Guardian, thanks! :)

Even though I have zero interest in racing - you really are a snobbish snotty twat aren't you?

Yeah, forget all the 'irrelevant' stuff like that it's the only daily newspaper not owned by a transnational corportation, that it doesn't have to toady to corporate advertisers, that its the only paper that doesn't follow some dreadful neo-liberal othordoxy, that its owned and supported by its readers who democratically determine its editorial view, that its the only paper that supports workers/unions/pensioners in struggles across the world etc etc etc.

You stick to your Guardian pal

Well I'm sorry. The Guardian has everything a real modern socialist or lefty would need - fantastic news coverage, insightful and thought-provoking articles, cutting-edge columnists and a spot-on editorial comment.

You stick to your extremeist propaganda. :)

I wouldn't follow the Morning Star tipster - you'll be seriously out of pocket.

It's funny about this story in the deep past that the paper had a successful horse racing tipster. It's almost like an urban myth! I don't think it ever was.

Yeah, I think that's a myth.

I knew a bloke at college called Nick Godfrey. His old man ran a bookies and he liked a bet himself. He was, however, utterly useless. It was an event if one of his horses ever finished a race, let alone won one. He used to drop about a thousand pounds a year which is quite a lot of money for a student.

A few years later he was working as a tipster for the Racing Post.

The Daily Herald, launched as a strike sheet by striking print workers in 1911, supported the general strike of 1926 & owned by the TUC. It later became the original Sun, before being brought by Murdoch in 1969 & my dad used to be the chief crime reporter, before being made redundant by Murdoch for NUJ activities.

The Daily Herald was a left wing mid-market tabloid, you could have called it a left wing Daily Mail. The type of newspaper the left could do with now.
