what car to get?

those are great deals... and the cars VW are sound...forget about the fiat

Yeah, they didn't sell well, but are great bits of kit, and hopefully will have bottomed out in terms of depreciation.

The cheapest car there is pretty amazing for £8k, althought the mileage isn't mentioned.

i had a look. only one fits my fussy criteria - less than 20,000 miles, less than 3 years old

and its £19990, right at the very top of my budget
here

depends how much i get my for my saab as well

i need to check whether it has all the gadgets i want. i like gadgets :)

probably will as its a phaeton

Nice spec there rubberhoes, the 3.0 diesel and FWD. Together with that low mileage, it's a lot of car for the money.

Is it something you'll keep, or chop in during the next 3 years?

honda accord. it'll never break.

also, check the ncap ratings. a dodgy result in these would be a deal breaker for me.

keep it 2 or 3 years and on to the next one

Then you may feel the Phaeton depreciation, if you buy at £20k.

Dunno what to say really, they're lovely cars, but they don't hold their values like say a 5 Series would.

You takes your choice.

Mate do you really hav eto get one of thsoe wnaker in a tanker prestige things.

Personally I'd go for a VW transporter the new diesel ones go like stink and oodles of room.

I'd have one but I like me 60 mpg diesel astra :D

Hmmm..... If you've got lots of 'Shooettes',why not get something like a Zafira or a Focus C-Max or similar ?? They do some pretty quick versions of those. More practical,eh ?? :):)

He's coming from a Saab convertible, and I think wants to bypass the 'kids in a people carrier' route. :D

mrs shoes can get something like that.

i want a car thats more than just practical:cool:

If I absolutely had to buy a new car right now, it would either be the restyled Challenger or the Vauxhall VXR8.

I doubt I'd actually spend any sort of money on a car that was younger than me, though :)

Well I've just looked on Autotrader and you could get some really nice VW Phaetons, V6 4-Motions with low mileage from anything from 8-16k. There's one on there with 24k on the clock for £13,000. They're so much more throught the VW main agents.

A lot of luxury kit for not a lot of money, and there aren't many around. :)

*edited for added picture*

Must admit I like the look of that one. What are the running costs like though?

All depends on the engine you want, the most economical being a 3.0 diesel, going all the way up to the W12 engine which I'd imagine would be on the high side. :)

Them VWs are a fucking steal. So much motor for the money. Wern't they something silly like 60K when new?

And if work pays the running cost (thinking new road tax here) you're laughing.

i need a new car

my saab is lovely but only has two seats in the back :(. Now babyshoes 3 has come along its time to get something else. there arent any convertibles with three seats . ive been round all the showrooms and they just dont do them

so i need something we can all go out in. there's 3 i've got in mind

first up is the appalling Chrysler 300C

good points
lots of room for 3 car seats
massive boot
high spec

bad points
only tossers drive them
crap to drive down the country lanes near me

next up is the jag x type
KF07AWO.jpg

good points
drives well
i've always liked jags

bad points
it's really a ford mondeo
whiff of the golf club about it

last option is the x type estate

i.jaguar.x.type.estate.04sep.jpg

good points
looks better than the saloon IMO

bad points
i dont need an estate

all these cars cost about the same. but i'm finding it hard to decide. do i go for the bling of the chrysler or the smooth jag?

Buy an E Type.

You know it makes sense.

You can pick up an E-Type for £12k.

Although it will be a shit US import, LHD and an ugly 1970 2+2.

One of them would break down all the time, though... :hmm:

I don't actually drive, all I want an E Type for is to park it in the driveway and sit in it while enjoying the admiring crowds.

The toothsome Ms Jolie could do the actual driving, obviously.

Mate do you really hav eto get one of thsoe wnaker in a tanker prestige things.

Your missing the point.
The wanker was the one who paid 70k for the prestige of having a poshed up Passat.
The OP will be the one paying 8k for a seriously well built and utterly loaded car, and if you could hear him through the sound proof glass, then it would be him laughing his head off.
;)

There is no such thing a cheap Ferrari, Aston Martin or Porsche 911.

Anything you think you can afford will bankrupt you. :D
