What bike do you have?

Trek 7.1 rigid

I have a green Pashley with leather saddle and wicker basket (and lots of dust and cobwebs and soft tyres because it hasn't been out of my garage since I moved here nearly 5 years ago!).

It used to be a beautiful bike. I am just too scared and have knees that are too dodgy, to cycle in London.

I should probably clean it up and sell it!

Yes. London is dangerous for cycling.. especially if you feel a little uneasy on your bike..

Its a good Idea to sell it but it's a better idea to give it away to someone who will use it & treasure it..
My friend Ashley needs a bike, hers was stolen the other day & she can not yet afford a new/second hand one untill the end of next month.. she usually cycles every day to work, but now is stuck.. if you wanna help her out she would love you for it which is better than money, any day of the week... But if you are going to sell it Please make it a reasonable price & give us a shout cos i'd buy her a pashley, cos she's a cyclist with out a ride & she is lovely..:)

I'm guessing you're aware of how much a bike like that could be worth. :)

Well yeh.. About £650..

The photo is not my ride.
My ride has profile crank & Profile stem, with Abula forks Ive been offered £800 for it..

I got the frame in Brooklyn NYC for $80 10 years ago... and have built the bike up over the ten years.. If you ride critical mass you may have seen me on it .... But really the value is irrelevent. It gets me around with out a drop of petrol Or diesel, its as light as a feather & as rare as hens teeth...

My mate recently sold a set of Hutch cranks with no bearings and a bent axle for nearly $1500

Was more worried you might have it nicked tbh

50 squid second hand bmx, spray painted black with some stickers and stuff. And a really cool bell.

Cheap it may be and slightly heavy but it's my baby and it's a GT bike under the paintwork.

Bloody septics  :D

We all know why you're shit scared of the japs. They make better bikes than you do. Hell, Hinckley is a jap plant for all intents and purposes.

I love my rice grinding RR. I loved it so much I bought two of the bastards in one year (bloody bike thieves)

I ended up driving a car in Florida because the only bikes available were fucking Hardlys :( (oh, and a single place hiring Buells in Fort Meyers) Actually I quite fancied checking a Buell out, problem was it was 200 miles away on the other side of the panhandle from where we set off :( And by the time we followed the coast around to the west, I'd figured out how lousey the standard of driving was !

Ooooo I want a bike! Want to make it a fun regular part of my healthy new lifestyle! Heh.

Some beauties on here! :D

A fold up one would solve a problem or two for me! Would suit my needs at the moment perfectly! Will they fit into the back of an average car? How much are they? Are they good enough/sturdy and long lasting for every day riding, say an hour a day?I can't afford alot...Should I check ebay or go to a bike shop?

:)

I bought a bike finally this weekend! Cheapo Decathlon MTB.

Now commuting by bike from Archway to Covent Garden. Downhill into work so only took about 15 mins, the ride back is gonna hurt though :D

I've got a Dahon Speed folding bike.

It was at the cheaper end of the folding bike market, approx £300.

It's ok, and of course any folding bike has various benefits and disadvantages that apply to all of them. The quality of this particular model is pretty good and the ride is quite stable.

If I was buying again, the one thing I'd change would be to have a Sturmey Archer gear rather than a derallieur. They're more reliable and easier to maintain. Folding bikes aren't built for ultimate speed or extreme hill climbing.

Dahon now do some bikes with the hub gears. Brompton have always done them.

In my opinion, the Dahon is easier and quicker to fold than the Brompton but is slightly larger when folded.

On-One Inbred

Lovely bikes, this is mine - set up for cross country there, but if you dial out the suspension and swap the tyres for a set of Nimbuses it's also great for the roads.

Thank for answering some of my questions untethered. :)

Guess I'll go check ebay and some names already mentioned on here....

sounds nice, they do seem to keep going and going once u get nice kit. What maintenace do u do to it? just change the bushings on the shock every so often.

I've got a marin larkspur. Covered in black paint to make it look as unsexy as possible so it won't get nicked! I love it - comfiest bike I've had and great for looooong road rides.

My bike (well, it's the family bike for whoever wants to use it) is made from bits of bike gleaned from bins and skips, made by a wonderful friend called Brian the Bike Man ( who died suddenly nearly 4 years ago).
