What are your musical guilty pleasures?

Milesy, I have had a little look myself on the net....I could have fallen for the rumour!!

(See how I avoided giving you the name of a rotten tabloid I may have read!)

to be honest it wouldn't suprise me if they do split this year, even if it's after recording a new album - they've had a long innings for the type of band they are, really.

God and there's me thinking people would be coming up with funny albums for everyone to laugh at, but no its yet another argument about bollox.

FUNNY ALBUMS PLEASE not a discussion about how politically correct that statement is and what it means ad infinitum!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My first angry face

Cheesy 80s gay pop, e.g. Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, Yazoo, etc. (yes there's a Vince Clarke theme here, I just can't get enough ;) )

Only really a guilty pleasure as I got badly ripped for it at school by people who thought they were hard for liking metal and punk.

Have always liked George as well. :)

I'm not ashamed of any music I listen to.Too many bloody music snobs these days.Music shouldn't be taken so seriously :)

thing is, even if you DO take it seriously, still nothing to be ashamed of.

This is also true.I know a lot of old music heads who hate "commercial" music.I never understood their argument that if music was commercial,it can't have any meaning.Just enjoy what you like I say!

exactly, and most of the arguments you can level against 'crap commercial spoonfed crap' these days can be levelled against a lot of great artists in the past. There's great pop and shit pop, same as anything else

I don't feel guilty about it, but my younger self would probably have been very embarrassed by the amount of cheesy shmaltz I like. Stuff like Charlie Rich, Dolly Parton, Crystal Gayle, Johnny Mathis (especially "Misty"), The Beverly & Andrews sisters ("Don't go under the apple tree", "Boogiewoogie bugle boy from company B" etc) & the like. Even real cheese like Laurel & Hardy's 'Trail of the lonesome pine', or, one of my definite desert island discs, Windsor Davies & Don Estelle "Whispering Grass". As far as I'm concerned they all have a place next to my classic dub & hardcore trance :)

~dusts off Status Quo's 'Down down' & headbangs~

When I am alone in the house, I am quite likely listening to Dolly Parton, Barbra Streisand or my Les Miserables cd and singing along very loudly :D

Not guilty but a definate pleasure :)

i like some prog metal. This will be laughed at by some. But I like, some of it. Maybe it's because I play guitar. The music and atmosphere are more itneresting to me than the lirics persay.

In the minds of some, my "guilty pleasures" are probably tragic. But I don't give a stuff.

So:

Barbra Streisand
Barry Manilow
Billy Joel,
Bread
Bette Midler

all B names it seems :p

Not so!

Dixie Chicks
Paul Williams (if you like bewdiful ballads, download: That's Enough For Me, I Won't Last a Day Without You, Waking Up Alone, You and Me Against the World)
Glen Campbell (Witcheta Lineman is one of my very favourite songs)
ABBA
Dolly Parton
Dionne Warwick
Elton John (Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Captain Fantastic, Rock of the Westies - in particular)
Johnny Mathis

So many more..................

After writing this I realise my "guilty pleasures" list makes up a great deal of my record/cd collection :D

Mine is not a guilty pleasure but it is an album that I have only ever met one person who appreciates it so it has not had much of an airing in company ....and when I have tried to turn folk I get asked to turn it off. Last complaint was about it being dated....but it's beautiful I cry....so Im almost on my own with The Blue Nile 'Hats'......

nah, the editor likes it too.

I don't like it, but please don't feel guilty :)

'Guilty pleasures' is based on the idea that something isn't seen as 'cool', no? In which case I've got loads or none, depending on which way you see it

Well I, for one, am deeply offended that anybody had the audacity to start a thread on here without checking with dubversion first. Outrageous

I thought it was more about stuff you like even though you know it's shit.
