What are your favourite convertibles?

I had a black alpha spider 3.2, was lovely, never let me down and didn't make me feel like a cocking hairdresser

I bought it because my love of crashing japanese sports bikes was to dangerous. So a compromise was come to :-):)

Yes, I'm from Essex. What of it?

I've loved these ever since I was a nipper. I have no idea how they drive.

I've had two, they are a really practical classic, 4 seats, reasonable boot, power steering, electric windows, fast and reliable. All spares are available and a good variety of specialists.

The engine used to sound superb, country lanes and multi storey carparks in a gear higher than necessary, music.

I drove mine to the South Of France down the route de la Napolian. Effortless with overdrive.

Would probably be some type of 911.

At the moment ms starfishs brother is attempting to rebuild one of these.

Another two I could happily own are:

The Austin Healy, great looks, great sound and good old British grunt. Tweed cap is compulsary.

The Triumph TR4. Much as above really. :)

There's one of these (maybe not an XR3i which this look like, probably a Ghia) for sale in my local 2nd hand car place for about £800...

If I were to get really nostalgic for Essex, I'd probably go for one of these as they used to be built in my home town...

My step dad had a G15 I used to punt around in when I wanted some fun. Definitely not useful to impress girls tho - bucket seats with c4 point belts, no stereo, leaked when it rained hard...fucking great fun to throw around tho.

Some nice motors here, most of them well out of my reach.

One of my personal favourites happens to be an affordable convertible, and I've always thought it looks ace:

We hired one in Ibiza last year and much enjoyment was had with it.

Couldn't we leave the DSes until about post 120? These threads always turn into DS love/hate fest as soon as someone posts one...

Yeah, that does look a bit chunky...cute tho

Aye but it suffers from the same problem all small cars suffer these days, and few can pull of the extra chunkiness. Like the ridiculous situation years ago when Pug introduced the 106 which was about the same size as the 205 because the 206 had grown so much. And then the 207 grew some more.

About the only small I like these days is the Abarth 500. Now that I could live with :D

Can't say the BMW saft-tops do anything for me, or the modern day Astons.

Go back a bit in time and it's a different story:
