What are your fave films about vampires?

Reno said:
I suppose you'd have to be 13 to appreciate it, though the vampires hideous 80's hairstyles are the scariest thing about it. ;)
Call me sad, but I could easily be persuaded to watch Lost Boys again tomorrow. It's simply great comedy.

Groucho still loves vampire films. These ones are quite good since they have vampires in them. Some are fantastic because they have vampires in them and are quite good to excellent as films.

Early silent films:
Vampire of the Coast (1909)
The Vampire's Trail (1910)
The Vampire (1913)--Kalem film directed by Robert Vignola.
In the Grip of the Vampire (1913)
Vampires of the Night (1914)--Greene's Feature Photo Plays.
The Vampire's Trail (1914)--directed by Robert Vignola.
Vampires of Warsaw (1914)
The Vampire's Tower (1914)--Ambrosia film.
Saved From the Vampire (1914)
The Devil's Daughter (1915)
A Fool There Was (1915)--Theda Bara as predatory "Vamp."
The Vampire's Clutch (1915)--Knight film.
Was She A Vampire? (1915)--Universal film.
Kiss of the Vampire (1915)
Mr. Vampire (1916)
A Night of Horror (1916)--German film directed by Arthur Robison.
A Vampire Out of Work (1916)--Vitagraph film.
A Village Vampire (1916)
The Beloved Vampire (1917)
The Vampire (1920)--Metro film.
Drakula (1921)
The Blond Vampire (1922)

Then the silent classics:
Nosferatu. 1921. Germany. d F W Murnau *****
A female virgin in her white nightdress entices the count in to her bedroom to taste of her blood (only the blood of a virgin would do). She risks sacrificing herself in order to save her fiance from the clutches of the count and traps the enraptured count in her bedroom as sunlight streams in....
Vampyr. 1932. Germany/France. ****
Atmospheric wonder.

The Universal US Dracula series.

Dracula AD 1972. 1972. *** Lee/Cushing. Lee didn't approve of the modern setting where Chelsea teenagers bring forth Dracula from his grave during a black magic ritual. "The count is back with an eye for London's hot pants, and a taste for everything!"

Clearly I missed this thread first time around. Films I like so far:

Near Dark
Cronos
Blood: The Last Vampire

I seem to remember enjoying Innocent Blood, but it's been a while.

Interview With A Vampire is shit, same as the execrable book from whence it came.

I'm trying to see every vampire film ever made. I am now really at the dregs. I am sure there are some wonders out there still, but I am watching some bloody awful films!

Talking of The Witches Hammer, according to MJ Simpson, who is apparently 'the UK's leading genre* critic', The Witches Hammer is 'a corking horror/action movie which oozes professionalism' and 'anyone who loves independent horror movies will get a kick out of this one.'

It begins as a poorly acted action film weak of plot and quickly develops a silly side. The silly side takes over and is eclipsed by absolute stupidity. A must see for fans of films that shouldn't have been made but were.

*that's crap films is it?
