Hogg's woollen socks from the local farmer's shop. Keep your feet warm but they're £6 a pair. Atm I'm wearing a pair of long navy fishermans's socks which I got from a charity shop for 50 p, pretty comfortable .

I like them a lot, thank you. Very very comfy indeed. I'll give you a shout if I need some more. Only minor criticism is that their large (size 7-11) is a bit little. I'm a 9.5 normally and these fit me snugly. If I had size 11 feet they'd be too small, I bet. But very nice socks other than that, lots of padding round the soles and ankles and what-have-you.

M&S do some really nice socks with silver in them

They're meant to prevent foot odour and as I do lots of sports I thought I'd try them. they are really, really comfy, not too thick, not too thin and I'm only buying them from now on. Apart from sealskinz for training outside in the rain.

They only do them in mens' sizes though, fine for me as I'm size 9

husband will only buy these socks. has done for years.
